$3M hit for three years (including this one). Nashville gave him 11 minutes/game over those 5 games he played, but he was just coming off an injury. He played well in Chicago before initially going to FLA.

In the right situation, he could rebound.

Plus he plays wing. If a deal of VL for Stalberg presented itself, I'd probably take it

Which player would you play with Read and Couturier?
- MJL

Whoever it is, they would struggle offensively.

Personally, I'd like to see him try Bellmare at wing and see if that line can get quicker/more offensive. I know Berube wants to keep him at Center but with as limited as this team is...trying to balance out the 3rd and 4 lines is like putting frosting on poop. Just make the 4th line what it should be with this roster..spare parts.

With the way this team has been playing, I would rather watch Charlie Brown's Christmas tonight. I might tune around 9 to see what's up. I dunno, I hold the Panthers in the same regard as the Devils.....boring a$$ game to watch.

Depending on how the other lines would shake out, B. Schenn, PEB, or the oft-belittled Akeson.

Yes, I want you to explain it. There is no doubt that both Couturier and Read have struggled offensively this season overall, but the last 5 games or so, Read looks ot have his quickness back, has played a lot better and seems to be coming around. Couturier, before the TB game was on a 6 game scoring streak, so I don't think it's a given that any player placed with them, would struggle offensively. As another poster stated, Read has been a consistent player as a Flyer, and it seems as though he's been dealing with an injury. So he deserves some leeway here, in my opinion.

Well, considering that it is one of the slowest lines on the team and the center (Couts) has a career high 39 pts and is again struggling to find consistancy to his offensive game and Read who looks like a black hole this season other than picking up a few points in the last 5 games... still not seeing the turn around in his overall play.... and they are counted on for defense mostly.... I dont think its outrageous to say that whoever plays on that line will see a drop in production almost certainly. I dont want to see Schenn or Simmonds play on that line. Thats how I feel about that.

Agreed. When those guys are playing with superstars like Downie, Umberger, Talbot, Fedotenko, and McGinn as consistent linemates, I'm surprised they don't already have several 50-goal seasons between them.

Well then the trade is clearly a win, so I don't see how Umberger can be considered "crap." A huge upgrade and a coup for Hextall.

Slop also gives you "offensive production" while crap just kinda wanders around the ice in a foggy haze.

Yeah, I love our current youth movement. Nothing but sky over our heads today. Sky and 26 other NHL teams.
