Why not try Dorsett on the PP? Can't get much worse and might be a distraction to the defenders.

Pitt use Downie. Flyers use Simmonds . why not try

I think that's the plan with Stanton now on the 2nd pairing with Bieksa.
- Nucker101

Stanton is bottom pairing also

Not much. I'm sure the bench will be balmier with Sami joining it.
- AlexF

He has a good shot. So he's bandaid player. No biggie.

So hes a Dbag he's still a legit starter. His numbers are bad right now but he is getting wins.

He can handle those minutes better than Sbisa, at least. It's kinda sad that we're hoping Stanton can settle Bieksa down.

Fan fave

We could do worse and he is a good passer too. Great stop gap without giving up assets. Might be able to flip Weber for a pick too.

I don't feel that way. KB3 is what he is. He's a barometer for this team when they are doing well or not so well. I really don't think he is a liability.

Linden on the TSN-1040 this morning.

He spoke about the goal for the new year is for greater output from their prospects.

Said he liked that Mccan and Virtanen have started to heat up, and thinks they are finally healthy from their different illnesses.

Said they expect more production in the AHL from Shinkaruk and Gaunce.
9 points and 10 points respectively in 27 games is not good enough.

I wish he and his two clown friends would play the same system Tanev is.

I think people give goalies too much credit for wins, which are for the most part are decided by the team in front of them. Miller's been mediocre but had a team scoring freely in front him (until recently). Schneider's been great the past 2 seasons at NJD IMO but has an offensively challenged team in front of him.

Not a liability, but he does need to stay away of the wrong side of the +/-

I wish the Canucks website would update their Prospects Central info, still have Gaunce playing OHL among other out dated info...

Dane Fox looks like a total waste, but I guess he was a free agent signing so w/e.

He's been a liability so far this year, despite the Canucks being a solid team in the league so far, so I don't buy the barometer thing at all. In fact, he was probably better last year when the team sucked.

Here are the team's goals against rates at 5v5(best to worst)

1. Tanev - 1.94
2. Edler - 2.18

3. Stanton - 2.83(sheltered minutes)

4. Weber - 3.60(sheltered minutes, so this is hilariously bad)
5. Sbisa - 3.71
6. Bieksa - 3.72(3rd-easiest minutes, and for his pay grade this is ridiculous)
7. Hamhuis - 3.79(smaller sample size, and sucked early on under Torts too)

Only Tanev, Edler and Stanton have played at a respectable level this year. Hopefully Hamhuis is just adjusting to a new system like he did last year and settles down. I'll give him more of a benefit of the doubt since he had the 2nd-best rate last year compared to Bieksa who was 2nd-worst on the team last year as well. Hamhuis plays harder minutes as well(more defensive zone starts and matched up against better players.

I remember it being worse. It seemed like we set a league record for odd-man rushes against not too long ago. Miller has been average.

This. People get caught up in the whole concept of "winners." It is a team sport, you can still suck monkey balls and win if your team can carry the load. Had this discussion about MAF a couple of weeks ago
