You do remember how that worked for Nashville don't you? - eagle50
Kaner would have a new wing man. I know he is a jag, but he was a beast in Sochi. |

Selectively bred and raised (beer and sake in diet, massages, etc.) Japanese cattle, highly marbled, extremely tender - costs 3 to 4 plus times as much ad prime dry-aged beef.
The second is a reference to an Allstate commercial.
I was going to add a Sweeney Todd reference, but enough is enough. |

Would that be an indictment of the Hawk player developments system and/or Stan's drafts?
I know Smith played in college but wouldn't you consider him a Rockford grad? I also think Q likes Nordstrom and he is clearly a Rockford grad.
Block's piece the other day on Morin implied Stan still needs to prove himself as a drafter/talent evaluator and parlaying these pieces (that failed here) into Rundblads and Erixons who are playing in the NHL instead of their own draftees like Klas and Clendening (who have worked hard in the AHL) is bad for system morale and and the development of prospects. I'm not agreeing with Block - just interested in your opinion. - tredbrta
I will give the Rockford pipeline credit for Smith but he is not a one line player and is one of the best PK men in the NHL.
Nordstrom would be but he hasn't played enough to say what line he will be on.
My point stands until now....Only Bollig.
More than anything else fans want to believe a lot of the hype but the Hawks have picked lower in rounds as they have had high finishes.
So be right they are not drafting 1st unit players...
But every now and then a Saad falls through the cracks who could turn out to be a top line player...same with TT.
I mostly agree with Chris but this is an unusual situation as the top 4 dmen here are the best in the NHL...That makes it a crowded situation for the 3rd pair...and how much can Dahlbeck and Clendenning learn in Chgo playing 7-10 mins a night...That's the rub.
Next season things will open up some as maybe 2 holes open on defense and imo Sharp will be elsewhere.
There is something to be said about keeping the young guys engaged and they should feel like there is something to play for but opportunities are limited.
More important is some of the most hyped players are held too long and given away...That's more an issue for me....Pirri, Olsen, Stanton and Morin.....And in a different category but still a giveaway was Leddy. |

Agree with a lot of what you posted Al.
Another point I would add is the jury is still out on draft picks bowman has made. |

I won't criticize Bowman's draft but at some point and it may not be for awhile...A franchise can't afford to give away NHL players. The market value for many of the players that were in essence dumped was a lot higher earlier on. ...And not dealing Leddy at the Draft still doesn't make sense. |

The only non-stop I see is 10:15 AM, which kills most of the day by the time I get into Juarez.
I don't see the 9:55 at all. |

I really think this team will be lucky to be the 6-8th seed in the conference. Stan Bowman! What a horrible job he's done in building this roster! I mean.. have you watched them? Just not very good. |

He hasn't exactly given them away. Maybe they didn't move Leddy because they weren't sure about Oduya being healthy to start the season.
The reality is guys like Pirri, Hayes and Olsen didn't fit their vision of how they want the team to play. Or are marginal NHL'ers. |

I just did it last week, which is why I knew we still did it, but it looks like Sunday, Jan 4th is the last day of that late flight. Not sure why...above my pay grade. |

I'd say the Hayes + Olsen for Versteeg thing is working out pretty well this year and time will tell on Pokka for Leddy. I don't see RFD games but have heard he's looked pretty good there and even if Pokka winds up a decent third pairing guy with 2nd pair upside, isn't that what the book on Leddy was anyway? |

Being a USAir guy, that's now being forced to become an AA guy, doesn't make me happy. One benefit is now I'll now know what you guys are talking about all the time. |
