I think the cost is too high, unless you think getting rid of BSchenn or Couts + a high pick is not too much

What happened to all the warm fuzzies from our weekend spanking of the Gomez led devils and the 19 point powerhouse Canes?

Carle sees the toughest zone starts of any defenseman on the Lightning. He also sees the 2nd highest level of competition behind only Stralman. His point production is lower because he doesn't see the same level of PP time and lower levels of offensive zone starts.

Carle looks like he's the exact same player he was with the Flyers. He's probably overpaid a bit, but he's definitely contributing to your team's success. If he wasn't there, someone would need to make up for those tough minutes. It would likely result in Hedman having far fewer offensive opportunities.

I know he's hard to appreciate when he makes a dumb play, but he is an effective player and the Flyers have sorely missed him.

Carle was never a big PP point producer, and I'm sure playing with Pronger, that Carle saw his share of defensive zone time, and top competition.

theyre being patient bro... no need to make trades in the season.... none whatsoever
- JoeRussomanno

I picture them being offered a trade and discussing it with such a high level of anxiety.

"Trade Byfuglien!?!?! What if he turns out to be better than we thought at age 31!??!?! We can't take that risk! We can't lose a trade! Let's just keep the team together and let them grow and blossom as a 30+ year old unit!"

Too expensive to trade for, and not the kind of player the Flyers need.

Thanks for posting this, because it gives me the opportunity to point and laugh at Ryan Lambert for his reaction after the trade:

I found Mooney's pretty amusing... although I understand we're supposed to be ostracizing him now.

Last season is when they should have kicked tires on Yandle, rather than going the MacDonald route

Sure, if you're willing to give up Brayden Schenn and probably one of the young defenseman to get Yandle.

You can make a long list of alternatives to trading for then, subsequently, signing MacDonald to that contract.

Conacher had 24 points in 35 games with the Lightning. Since the trade, he's scored 34 points in 106 games.

He's actually 4th in Corsi Rel QoC and is getting 53.5% OZ starts. 7th on the Lightning, but a number any Flyers dman other than Streit would love to get.
