It really is a great mystery. The Zombie is cooked and continues to prove it every night. However our beloved coach rolls him out there every franking night. I didn't realize he had more ice than those two. We needed a goal and yet RJ gets more ice?
I am convinced he has blackmailed Chief and Hextall. There is no other explanation

Whatever, I'm loving his play along with the others. 2015 is right around the corner it's time to get excited about the draft.

Voracek is having himself quite the season isn't he? I picked him up on a couple of my fantasy team as an afterthought before the season started and wow!

Meh... if the Flyers draft in the 6-10 range, that player could be 3-4 years away from being able to contribute at the NHL level. Hard to get all pumped up for that right now.

Doesn't there come a point where as a decent human being you realize, "hey, I suck and can't do this anymore.. hey coach, sit me for a few games and play someone who deserves it.."??

Guess not.. The guy just keeps taking his TOI like a champ...

- WarriorHockey21

You would think that as a professional he would do that. It doesn't help that the coach sees something in him that no one else on the planet does.

Hedman, Stralman and Garrison are eating up offensive so Carle has been relegated to a more defensive roll.
- Artyukhin76

Carle sees the toughest zone starts of any defenseman on the Lightning. He also sees the 2nd highest level of competition behind only Stralman. His point production is lower because he doesn't see the same level of PP time and lower levels of offensive zone starts.

Carle looks like he's the exact same player he was with the Flyers. He's probably overpaid a bit, but he's definitely contributing to your team's success. If he wasn't there, someone would need to make up for those tough minutes. It would likely result in Hedman having far fewer offensive opportunities.

I know he's hard to appreciate when he makes a dumb play, but he is an effective player and the Flyers have sorely missed him.

If we look at ES icetime, he played less then Schenn or Simmonds. And he also played less minutes on the PP. So where is the difference? It's that neither Simmonds or Schenn play on the PK. So that's where the 5 second overall difference with Simmonds, and the 34 second difference for Schenn is.
- MJL

I get that he gets some extra time because he is on the PK, a brutal PK this year by the way which I'm sure has at least a little to do with his listless play. He gives you literally nothing 5 on 5, do you think it is worth dressing him for those extra couple of minutes of mediocre PK time? I'd take Vinny as a PP specialist over RJ as a PK specialist, not that either is a great option with the poorly constructed roster.

I'm not one to defend MacDonald, but since his departure from the Island, the Fishsticks have really gone in the tank.

That's a good way to look at it. The more he plays ... The better the pick. Ah that's it! That is Hextall's plan. Now I got it.

6-10 could still possibly yield a player who could step in right away... although I would hope they wouldn't draft based on who's the most NHL-ready at 17/18.

Some of these F's might be only 1-2 seasons away, and well worth the wait.

Lol. Even if the trade backfired, at least Yzerman isn't afraid to make a trade. The Jets just sit around doing nothing. I bet they wouldn't even pull the trigger on a lopsided trade. They'd be too scared to lose the trade.

i'd play 7 D with MDZ put in offensive role situation, over either RJ or VLC getting minutes

but I would play RJ on the 4th line and PK before VLC saw the ice

Absolutely hate RJ with Read and Couts

getting a 3rd line winger better then RJ should be something Hexy could accomplish pretty easily, one would think, without losing any key players/prospects/picks

Carle is the type of player you don't miss until he's gone. Then, you realize how difficult it is to find a 35 point player who can be deployed in any situation at any time in the game.
