erhoff is replacable. time to see harrington and doumalin. only current peice thats a mojor loss is sutter and hall would more than make up for his loss depth wise.
- ChrisMS

No, he isn't. What happens if neither of them plays as well as Erhoff does? Then you're screwed. Erhoff is far more valuable than Sutter is. And Sutter is a nice piece.

Hall is unnecessary and expensive. You do NOT want to make that trade.

Agreed, Pens are in deep sh*t if Ehrhoff and Martin both walk.. as much as I like the younger guys.. Ehrhoff is a proven NHL player that has been really steady on the blue line.. offensively maybe a bit underwhelming, but defensively he's possibly more responsible than Paul Martin is, which in my mind makes him the most defensively responsible player on the Pens.

He's good. If you're going to trade somebody, trade from your multitude of "Maybe" defensive players, not from your somewhat thin "Good" defensive players.

A "maybe" player wont get you taylor hall. Neither would a "good" player that will be a UFA in the summer, though.

True, that's why you don't go for Hall haha, go for someone more attainable and realistic. Very few teams have the assets to get Hall, one that comes to mind is Tampa, they do have a plethora of solid forwards.

Exactly. So don't trade for Taylor Hall. You don't need him.

That's the key, Tampa is so loaded and young that they don't need a Hall and his $6m contract and be cap strapped......

A team that could use an identity or add another star player is whom should target Hall...... Obviously having good cap relief also.....

We don't need him at all. It would be nice, but we don't need to sell the barn for a tractor

I would think they'd prefer a good goaltending prospect over another talented winger.

My thinking is that they have other players to trade-off to acquire a G or even a more proven G.

Young F's with good potential and controlled are valued higher than a prospect unless the prospect is a cant miss, if u get my point?

Right.. so am I supposed to say sutter, pouliot, maatta, bennet and our first for him? No thanks. Sid and geno don't need "elite" wingers to win scoring title and put up 100 point seasons. We need players like tlusty from carolina and a few depth guys. Still salty about that loss we gave you guys?

Yea I get it. So essentially get that package for Hall with duclair and then ship off yak or eberle for a goalie. I think if duclairs involved tho, you gotta take hagelin out and at that point the salary cap gets in the way.

To me, Oilers need depth everywhere, so if per se Oilers get a package like that for Hall (keep in mind of Oilers still having this years 1st) they will already have better F depth, Skjei is a highly touted D prospect to go along w/Nurse. Remember teams don't trade away top pairing Dmen unless of aging or cap strapped, so teams have to try develop top Dmen themselves.
Eberle - could bring in some more help
RNH - would bring in more than Eberle

It depends on the type of production we are talking about to be completely honest. Yes, in the regular season it was a slight downgrade, BUT Neal has been extremely disappointing in the playoffs in Pittsburgh, and when Rutherford came in he said he is trying to build this team for playoff success... Now comparing the types of players Neal and Horny are, I would say that Hornqvist is more suited for playoff hockey, although it has yet to be proven, as long as the Pens make the playoffs and he's healthy, we should get an idea of whether or not this trade worked as GMJR expected and then, and only then could this trade fully be evaluated, because after all, that's what the trade was for.. success in the post season.

Yeah agree with this completely.
