yeah but everyone here commenting on that trade is enjoying 20/20 hindsight. At the time, that return was actually not bad. Eriksson was a very underrated winger and Seguin had not yet reached his stride at all and was thought to have a pretty serious attitude problem.

that just never seems to come up.

Not saying your wrong, but there should have been more patience with that situation in my opinion.

Montreal would definitely think about it.

It would provide endless hours of uproarious laughter.

Honestly I wouldn't consider Sutter, Pouliot, and Ehrhoff scraps... they're all very good players, except for Pouliot who hasn't proven anything at an NHL level. Sutter is playing the best hockey of his career right now and Ehrhoff has been extremely reliable on the Pens blue line. Although, I know where you're coming from.. the thing with the whole asking price thing for Hall is... why is a team going to get rid of a top two center for a top line winger? The whole reason they want that winger is to play with their top centers... same goes with Defense and Goalie... teams don't just trade top guys... Edmonton is likely never going to get the value that they should for Hall, it's very unlikely UNLESS you find like that next Hall for "Seguin type" trade.. that's the only way Edmonton gets the right value...

no way. he got it done in the playoffs. that's what counts. not saying the seguin deal got us great return but given the way he acted, expecially during the playoffs, he booked his own ticket out of town. justin beiber on skates.
- Fountain-San

Regardless, I meant someone had to go to make room & cap flexibility, the choice was either Seguin or Krejci or another player which didn't happen. I'm just saying I would have kept Seguin over Krejci, just my personal preference....

Or could have made Seguin into a RW and not even entertained Iginla

plus if everyone wants to go off how players act at a very young age, go ask CHI fans bc some were female doging about Kane and how did he turn out???

Which is why is really doesn't make any sense to trade Hall. That culture stuff is a bunch of crap!

I actually don't think this is that bad of a deal. Might need some tweaking but I don't think it's just scraps.

Except that I consistently that Hall is better than Neal! Neal who was/is an elite goal scorer was traded for a lesser goal scorer and a decent prospect. The Oilers wouldn't do a winger for winger sway of Hall, it doesn't fill their needs. Neither Neil or Bobby Ryan got that great of a return. Neither did Seguin. The return they need for Hall they in all likelihood wont get. No one will give up a top center or dman for him, so they are better off keeping him. Once again just an opinion and not trolling.

[quote=j.boyd919]But that wasn't what you said at all.. you said that Neal brought back a bad return, which actually isn't true at all... he actually brought back a great return. Comparing Horny putting up 30 in NSH to Neal putting up 40 in PIT is a terrible comparison. Who was his center when he put up 30? Craig Smith? Mike Fisher? Sorry, no disrespect to them, they are good hockey players, but they're no Evgeni Malkin...
- mnhockeyguy[/quot

Hornquist hit 30 once, and he's not going to hit that mark this year with Crosby or malkin. I like Hornquist but he's not the same caliber as Neal. As I said, I think Neal is an elite scorer. Hornquist is decently good but it wasn't even. Spal is decent but the two for Neal was undervalue. My opinion only. But as I have been saying all along, the Oilers would need a massive Haul in return for trading their best player. I just dont see them getting enough to make it worth their while.

Considering Hornqvist is currently on pace for 32 goals and 76 points compared to Neal's 31 goals and 51 points, I'd say they're pretty similar players.

huh... a top 20 prospect in the league, a 2-3 center, a 1st rounder, a former first round pcik with bad luck (ok I'm selling that one) and a guy thrown in for cap purposes that could be swung for another top 60 pick. tell me who beats that deal? waiting for your offers that might fetch a malkin in 3...2....1....

if all of that stuff is right, then they won't trade him. they won't trade him for the sake of trading. even they're not that stupid.

sutter is replacable by goc, DP is replacable by letang/maatta/harrington/doumalin, BB is bad luck maybe needs a restart, 1st rounder would be required to get hall (plus it might be the 30th pick ) and erhoff was for cap purposes
