I tried to warn Oiler fans after the deal was made and was laughed out of the thread. He's a pass first player but has a pretty wicked wrister. Has size but doesn't use it. Extremely inconsistent. I'm probably missing one or 2 other factors that I pointed out but that is damn near the exact scouting report I gave.

All fairly accurate. Still like him too. Good posession wise and such but the lack of physicality and consistency has been disappointing.

when he came back from injury he played a few games on the 4th line, then was promoted to the 1st, that's what i said and it is factually correct.
Was he on the 4th line for sheltering while he eased back in from injury? maybe, doesn't change the fact that he was there.

He is a top 9 player who can be moved up and down the lineup when needed.

I don't dislike him at all. He can be absolutely maddening when he's alone in the slot and sends a pass to the outside of the circle. I honestly ventured in there just to give what I believe is an honest assessment of a player I watched for years. For some reason many in there just scoffed and said b/c he's 6' whatever that means he's going to play big. About the only time he plays big is on zone entry as the puck carrier. If he is getting PP time I hope they are utilizing him for that b/c he is quite adept at carrying the puck into the zone or dishing if the blue-line coverage is drawn to him

The Oilers PP is just....well, even during a season like this, it stands out. Not for good reasons.

He's faster and better defensively, that's about all we were expecting. But in hindsight, realizing that they weren't going to add another C, i probably don't make that deal. I thought for sure as soon as he was gone that we would have brought in a C to replace him, i was wrong
