Two years from now, the cap is going to be higher.

I would even go as far to say that Filppula (as much as I like him) may be expendable now, with the emergence of Johnson.

Plus will be coming off the books soon.....

In the next 2-3 years Stamkos, TJ, Palat, Killorn, Hedman, and Bishop will all potentially be due a raise.

That's the key, Tampa is so loaded and young that they don't need a Hall and his $6m contract and be cap strapped......

A team that could use an identity or add another star player is whom should target Hall...... Obviously having good cap relief also.....

In my opinion, Killorn and Bishop will be gone by then.

But who knows. The tandem of TJ and Palat is just so good though.

Tampa won't be able to re-sign all the young talent either when they are due for raises.

What would it take to get Hall though?

Namestnikov + Palat +1st ???

- Feds91Stammer

There is no doubt eventually a few of the young pieces will need to be moved. Heck, I expect Yzerman to make some move this season as he is on record he doesn't like the "scratch a forward every night" rotation thing we have going. But, trading for Hall makes no sense IMO. I have to say Hall would be an upgrade before Oiler fan goes nuts, but given the cost to acquire and where Hall would fit in I just don't see a fit at all.

It happens, and I would rather be a poop show that's atop the eastern conference with half a team Enjoy the wins now, flames won't make playoffs and if they do they'll be bounced like a basketball
- znagle

That's fine...did anyone ever say they were supposed to make the playoffs? It's not easy in the West, so it will take some time to build a contender. Meanwhile you can continue to pretend the Pens are a good team the breezy East.

In the names above most will be a reasonable raise, only Stamkos will command in the neighborhood of Teows/Kane

And what happens when TJ and Palat are up for 5m per yr contracts?
- Feds91Stammer

Eventually some of these pieces will have to move on. It's the nature of a salary cap world. The question remains how does trading the relative cost to acquire Hall help us solve this problem down the road? It doesn't. Stammer will get his $10M per, Hedman will get his Subban like deal as well. Don't get me wrong, I along with every team would love to add Hall. But given the cost to get him and given the forward depth and high-end skill we already have, I don't see a major improvement coming from acquiring Hall.

Right... I like how you say that, meanwhile the Pens have compiled records of 6-2-0 this season, 17-10-1 last season, 13-2-3 in 2011-12, 11-4-3 in 2010-11, 9-7-2 in 2009-10... which totals up to beeeeeee... 56-25-9 against the Mighty, Mighty West in the past 5 seasons... you should check yo facts before you try to talk sh*t bud, you make yourself look like a clown.

According to Oil fans those players are scraps.... honestly though you wouldn't be willing to acquire a top 10 player for 2 roster players and 2 prospects that you have depth in?

They have an abundance and I see this as a possible solution:

Hall-Stamkos-Drouin
Killorn-Fil-Cally
Connolly-TJ-Kucherov
Morrow-Boyle-Paquette

I don't think so unless Hedman starts putting up Weber type offensive numbers.....

Palat >>> Connolly

Connolly would be the first forward given up, after Brown, imo.

Yes but you have to give to get. It's just an idea but I see most fans are overly attached to their players.

I have to ask, would you give up Nyquist and/or Tatar for Hall?

I sure wouldn't.

Hedman is in the same class as Subban and Weber as of last season.

Geez, so bc Hedman is currently having a nice offensive season now means that it will automatically continue bc some have a crystal ball and predict it.
Don't know about you, but how many players have u seen have a great season 1yr but cant continue to maintain it????

Like I said, unless he starts putting up Weber type offensive numbers on a consistent basis... Sometimes I question how some can assume without any prior history???
