I actually stopped being a season ticket holder on hockeybuzz because of Dee. She has written a few good articles in a row and I am just saying that I am impressed. Now as for JT, I coached hockey for 14 years at a very competitive level and JT is not in a slump, its a lull and that happens with all great players and it usually happens when the rest of the team is playing solid hockey. A true superstar will shine brighter when the team around him is not as good.

I agree with everything you said except the stuff about JT

Pleasantly surprised at your new found positive articles about the great season the NYI are having. It so much better for the team too when they hear the fans and the media are also praising their efforts instead of trying to find the little things that are going wrong. Players and coaches know the areas that need improvement but it is about time that the Islanders get some love for their hard work and great play.

Multiple times this year already I’ve been ripped for pointing out flaws with the way the team has been playing, only to have people repeat what I said 4-5 games later in the middle of a losing streak. Being positive and ignoring signs of things that aren’t right is akin to sticking your head in the sand and expecting everything to be a’okay. I’m not much for fairy tales and unicorns so if I see something that bothers me (as Dan did with his blog on how JT hasn’t been himself and looks frustrated) then I’m going to post it. It’s a discussion forum, if you want blind acceptance of everything the team does because they’ve won 21 games, then you might want to stay off the internet.

There are a number of things that are not “a’okay” with the Isles so far this year, Brian Strait, Chad Johnson, John Tavares since the game against Dallas, Jack Capuano’s lines and/or decisions on which players to dress or scratch, Boychuk’s health and contract status, etc.

If you don’t like hearing these things, print this off, roll it up as tight as you can, and cram it up your ass. I’m sick of hearing people say things like “if you’re negative, you’re not a real fan”. Those people can get bent.

Dan, if you go back to my earlier posts, I said I actually prefer you from a fan and journalistic point of view. Your article on JT was well written but from a hockey analyst you have to remember that when the team is playing better around you, you tend to fall into a lull. If you have had to carry the team on your shoulders for too long and now see others pulling their weight, you almost can hear the exhale. JT will turn the corner and go full speed when he needs to and that moment you won't hear, you'll feel it. He'll make us all feel it. You and Dee can feed off the negative and wait for something bad to happen or be fans and write about the good stuff, mention the bad stuff, but be happy we're winning. It's fun to be an Islanders fan again, don't bring out the Milbury in both of you.

I'm not asking him to carry the team, I'm asking to play smart selfless hockey, relax and have some fun out there. The success of this team is great but if I see something I dont like I'm going to talk about it. There is a difference between being negative and being critical

Sounds fair to me! I don't understand why anybody feels compelled to put anyone down for their opinions. Some of the Dee bashing hints of misogyny! She writes from a women's perspective, and I think it's better for the sport if more women enjoy it. If you don't like what she writes, simply ignore it.

I used to stick up for Dee, actually for a year and a half or so when I first joined the site. Over the last two years the blogging has become…lazy. No fact checking, opinions thrown out that are contradicted a sentence or two later in the same blog, some comments that were in poor taste. I honestly do not care whether or not it’s a man or a woman that blogs for the Isles, I just want a blog written with some thought put into it. This is where my issue is and continues to be with this one.

Dan’s blog on JT was something a few of us have been saying for a while and was well written, thought out and gave us a great talking point. This is what a blog on this site should be.

I don’t care who’s signing at the team store, nor do I want to see her talk about ticketmaster “raping” her with their fees (and this is not me using the term, it was her choice of wording in her blog) and I certainly don’t find the idea of Kyle Wellwood playing defense for the Isles a talking point of merit.

Well why would you bother reading her blogs if you don't like the subject matter she chooses to write about? Dan does the more strategic angle of the game. I like the stuff Dan covers better too, but I don't want bash Dee for a job she is not getting paid for. I just think it is poor form to hide behind a fake internet name and belittle another human being.

Whoa - let's make one thing clear, I don't know Dee and I've never made a comment about her as a person. I'm criticizing the work she's putting out, that's what I have an issue with. Just like I don't know Dan as a person, I comment on what he writes. As far as I know, Dee could well be a friendly, warm, wonderful person. That doesn't mean that you can just throw garbage up as a blog and walk away from it and be beyond reproach.

If you put your work up in a public forum, especially on a site that takes money from their "season ticket holders", you'd better expect to get criticized for it if it's shoddy.

One other thing, I rip on Garth all the time for his ridiculous blogs, is this also because he's a woman?

for what its worth as well, half the time I make a critical comment against the team I get ripped for it by some as well. That said, usually a game or three later others are also saying the same thing. it's an internet forum, no one will ever agree with someone all the time.

I was the same way when I first started. Vukota and I actually used to fight about it bcs id stick up for her if you can imagine that . When she wrote her blog blaming the fans for the islanders losing I was done. It was honestly one of the most clueless things I've ever read in my life. That was followed by works of art like Kyle wellwood playing defense for the islanders like you said. Come on. If youre not going to put in an effort in any way then just dont do it.

The Irony is that When I am negative this year I am criticized by the same people who were critical of my positive comments last year (Hence the koolaide avatar). I was a "snow appologist", accused of being Wang, etc. We are all wrong once in a while.. and right once in a while. We all love the Isles and talking about them on these boards helps our long days on a desk go by a little faster. No one should get angry if someone is Negative on a player, coach, Blogger, or Positive.. It's all just for fun.
