can the isles score 5 goal on Detroit Friday. b/c that what we going to need to win with Johnson's token 4 GAA gift. He must be watching footage of Poulin.
Saturday night sounds like great game. Looking forward to Tuesday the 23rd vs Montreal as well. |

I know Tampa plays friday night as well in NJ. If they know ahead of time that Bishop is not playing saturday then I would start Halak friday in Detroit and then start Johnson at home saturday night vs the Lightning backup and sit back and watch a shootout |

He played fantastic. It is very nice to see our first round picks that Snow refused to trade all starting to click. Between Strome, deHaan, OK, JT, Brock and yes even Bailey that is an incredible amount of home grown guys playing very well. Sprinkle in some later round picks in Hamonic, Casey C, Matt Martin, Lee, etc.... that is a ton of guys that were developed by the Islanders. ... in other words all the idiots who said the Isles were incapable of Drafting well and developing prospects can go Pound sand. - niteislander
Don't recall anyone bashing Garth for his drafting(I've stated many times he should be our head scout)....the knocks on him were all related to how he did all the OTHER aspects of his job, i.e Hiring Capuano, signing Strait/Rolston/Reasoner/Boyes, etc.
We all knew the kids would develop—some are exceeding expectations—which for once is a lucky break for the team. |

I don't want to start another debate but I believe the coaching aspect is bc of Wang not wanting to pay for someone who's more proven. That's my take and opinion and don't want to start another issue about this bc its gone on numerous times.... |

$56 million in player payroll and the owner is splitting hairs over a coaches salary? Doubtful. Even before the sale.
Laviolette & Nolan wouldn't be puppets and that's why(among other things) they're both gone. Anyone who doesn't want to buy in to the owners' gameplan is let go. Lafontaine & Neil Smith proved that. Nino rocked the boat and they shipped him out (like the pun?) for a lesser player. It's an old topic. They're control freaks. It's no mystery. |

He just ponied up $15M per year to pay for Halak, Johnson, Grabovski and Kulemin. He'll be spending probably another $10-$12M per year on Boychuk and Leddy if they re-sign. I doubt $1M a year for a coach is going to be where Wang draws the line, if they were to require one. |

Geez, this year, the final year in the coliseum and last year of losing money, did any of this spending so generously happen prior? If yes, correct a short time frame w/Peca, Yashin, etc but got broken down real fast, why???
Edit: I'm not going to continue this debate further.... its my take & opinion and everyone else can have there own...... |

Granted, payroll was $42-44Mil last year and I believe Garth was under order to run the show as lean as possible but the coaches salary is still peanuts when $40+ million is being spent on players. The losses were never as bad as they said—all big businesses show as little profit or as much debt as possible. |
