Tough decision. I'd probably go with Halak Friday in Detroit. He'll have plenty of rest by Friday, and anything ..... anything to postpone Johnson's next start...
- JohnScammo

I think I'd start Johnson in Detroit. See what he does and then you have Halak at home on Saturday, a couple days rest and then in again Tuesday. I'm just guessing here, but it might be tougher for Halak to stay in a good rhythm being off until Friday, playing, then off again until Tuesday.

Given up on a back-up G so quickly shows Snow's mistake, which I think Johnson will eventually rebound. Geez, the guy is a back-up and barely plays 1g a week, I'll be singing a different tune if Halak got injured for a while and isles had to rely on him. But for now, he is what he is, a back-up G.......

Im aware hes a back up but hes a back up thats not doing his job. Its that easy. I was saying the same thing you were uo till his last start. He has had one good game. Hes not doing his job. Just like strait there has to be a time when you say enough is enough and give someone else a shot. We may not be there yet but id think we arent too far from it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tavares suspended at least a game, if not 2.

What a mindnumbingly stupid, and SELFISH, penalty. You're the captain of the team and you go after one of their guys, with 2 minutes left in a tie game? Beyond dumb.

Nice "ugly" win. One thing, these guys need to put more rubber towards the net and stop trying to make the highlight goal. It doesn't matter how it goes in fellas, they all count the same.

Big game Friday. I anticipate no JT, so it's gonna be pretty tough in Detroit.

He's horrible. He needs a good game just to his and everyone else's confidence up, imo.

He's not at Strait's level yet. At least Johnson has had one good game.

Yep, with the worst PK in the league no less. He should have been riding the bench for the rest of the game.

I don't think he's going to get suspended. Fined, probably.

Agreed. Crowd let him have it. Selfish play guy is obviously frustrated. Two minutes lwft in the game its unacceptable. Zidlicky said it only hurt him a couple of seconds so its ok. Lol. Like I said earlier. Love the guy but easily the worst fwd on the ice. Theres no denying it. Still feel he will snap out of it but he was tough to watch tonight.

I love Tavares but... just so sloppy in each end of the ice this year!!!

I don't know, it was a pretty obvious spear, if you ask me. I'm surprised he didn't get a match penalty.

It's never a benefit for one of your best players to miss a game. Just a selfish move, plain and simple. I was kinda shocked he did it.

I agree... especially that late in the game. Something is wrong that's not his game. Only thing I can think of is him being pissed about his line not producing... perhaps kule??

Not for nothing but would it be the worst thing in the world for him to take a seat in the press box for a game to take a breather and just watch a bit and decompress? He's obviously pressing tremendously.

Looked like an angry meth reaction was my first thought.
- ses111

Yeah, I think what happened there is the two players didn't really see each other, and the way Tavares got hit, he probably assumed that Zidlicky tried to knee him, which is why he reacted that way. When he looks at the replay, I'm sure he's going to be embarrassed when he sees that. Of course, if I was Zidlicky, Tavares would have been skating over to the box with a titanium shaft sticking out of his ass, but as I've said, I come from a different era...Tavares, playing in this era, should take a seat for a couple of games for that, though- no one is above the law...except Crosby....

I think I'd start Johnson on Friday if Halak has the mumps...they're not playing six games in nine nights anymore- I think Howie said they have six for the rest of the month, or something like that. Halak can play if he can crawl out of bed and put the pads on- at the very least, I wouldn't start Johnson until we have all of our starting defensemen in front of him.

Yeah, some of you guys have been saying this for a while...I've just been thinking that line have spent a lot more time trying to play defense this year, which is tampering their production a bit. Last night, however, he was terrible, way before he speared anyone. I wonder if that knee isn't really as OK as everyone seems to think- he just looks slow, to me.

Good teams find a way to win, this is what is makes us different from years past, however, our captain or so called franchise player has more give aways then shots on goal on a regular basis. He has always been slow compared to most players in the league, but this year he seems to have lost a gear. The really scary part is his decision making. I do not share the common opinion that he WILL just turn it around at any time when he is doing NOTHING positive on a consistent basis. His game is completely lost! Time to sit for a couple of games and think about it. Once Strome moves to the first line, he will stay for the season.
