Steve Duchesne, Hextall, Ricci, Chris Simon, Forsberg, draft picks, cash. it was awesome... I STILL wish the Rags had won, they would never have won the cup in 94 if they acquired Lindros.

Kovalev, Amonte, Weight, Vanbiesbrouck, cash and draft picks were what the rags offered.

I know its a lot... But Hall is proven and still young. Everyone I offered besides Bailey is unproven and you can even lump Bailey into that too...

Gotta give to get and I think this is fairly even. Just dont know if Edmonton would think a long these lines...

- Bags502

Yes, you do have to give to get. But if "getting" means giving up the depth the team now has, then "getting" isn't worth it. Maybe for another team giving up three promising young pieces is with it for one elite piece. I'd pass if I was the isles.

After making my trade offer:

Hall - Tavares - Okposo
Kulemin - Nielsen- Grabovski
Strome - Nelson - Lee
Clutterbuck - Cizikis - Martin

Leddy - Boychuck
Hamonic - de Haan
Hickey - Visnovsky

Halak
Johnson

- Still have the defensive depth with Donovan, Strait, Pullock and others.
- Lose some forward depth but still have Grabner, Conacher, Ho-Sang, Collberg and others.

Like I said, you gotta give to get. The main 2 in this deal is obviously Dal Colle and Reinhart but you dont know what you are gonna get out of them. You know what Hall is and who knows what he does with Tavares. Id do this trade in a heartbeat but thats just me.

With that being said, this isn't gonna happen but its a nice way to kill part of my day, lol

edit:
Wow, forgot Nielsen... lol

This is actually a very fair offer.

I thought Reinhart, dal collet and Grabner and oilers fans laughed at me

- Dan Petriw

I would not trade for Hall. It would be putting all your eggs in one basket. Depth is very important as we are realizing at this moment with our defensive core. Hall has a frame of a 12 year boy and is injury prone. He is a turnover machine and has zero defensive skills.

Hall is great, but giving up 3-4 solid players for one great one is not what wins. There are players who we can get for way way less that will be effective on JT's left side. Hell we claimed PA and Matty off waivers and they worked out great. If we are giving up Griff, Strome/Nelson, +, it needs to be for a corner stone D man like Subban or Doughty.

Will Strome or Nelson ever be as good as Hall? Not likely. Will we be a better team loosing a bunch of really good, cheap, young, two way players? Debatable. The team is winning. Add spare parts, don't reconstruct a team with a skilled, winning, young core.

If the price for Hall was Griff and Dal colle, I would do it. But anything more than that is just not worth it IMO. That may be fair price. Edm loves Griff and Dal Colle is a pretty good prospect.

We are trading for Hall now...

Always good times with the Isles.

Better sign Boychuk before we trade Reinhart!!!

Don't think hall is worth what they'd have to give up. He doesnt go in to the corners and fight for pucks and he doesnt play defense.Adding that to JT and KO won't work. In my opinion a player that would work better at the same price is Pacioretty or JVR. Better on D then hall, both young, and have size to get in the dirt areas.

Cheap option: Nick Foligno he's playing very well and is a UFA at the end of the season. If he isn't going to sign with the blue jackets maybe the isles could get him cheap as a rental for the playoffs. He's racking up points and is physical

hall is 6'1'' 201 pounds... about the same size as tavares or crosby, he is injury prone nothing to do with his size though

Forget about Hall Johnny Rocket and the Hammer are on the verge of returning. Gotta be honest I was expecting a huge slide when they went down. Should be a huge boost this weekend if they play. Can't wait for Saturday night

I think the Isles should solidify their defence. We have the offence... need defence.

I think we all have seen what happens when Hamonic, Boychuk, and Vis went down.

If Vis retires and Boychuk moves on... then we have issues again.

Yeah like a said in another post above I'd like to see them go for a cheap option some one like Perron or nick foligno. Who they could get without moving Reinhart or other top prospects.

If visnovsky retires we have plenty of options to plug in for him on the third pairing. Reinhart, Pulock, Czuczman, Mayfield, even Donovan might prove an option for a regular spot.

If Boychuk leaves, we’re left with a big hole because we would lose a leader, a big physical presence and his shot on the PP. He is a perfect fit for our defense and that’s who I’d be concerned about losing.

I have to think whether Visnovsky retires or not he won't be an Islander next season. He's going to be a UFA and will probably be looking to cash in on one last multi-year contract before he has to call it a career.

One of three things will happen with him:

1. He regresses to the mean and ends up producing like he has the rest of his career

2. The Jackets re-sign him before the season ends

3. He goes to UFA and someone, including CBJ, sign him to a stupid contract after a career year

Yep. I was referring to a midseason trade which was kind of what this thread went too. If we go to the offseason without making a trade im not looking to sign Foligno in July.

Well, I'm a bit older but to this day I think my favorite ever, despite the team and it's simplicity, was Bernie Parents;

It's one of the few pieces of Flyers stuff that's allowed to grace my sports room.
