You know, being a fan of your team, how important it is to play defense. Strome gets it, at 20 years of age, or whatever he is, and you can't put a price on that. I'd rather have a lot of good offensive players than great ones who can't or won't play defense. Offense for guys like Strome and Hall is about talent....defense is about work ethic, and Edmonton doesn't seem to have that- they don't need to trade Hall, what they need is someone who makes them afraid to come back to the bench after defensive errors of omission, for fear they might not leave the pine for the rest of the game. A couple of years of your old coach would probably cure what ails them more than a trade.

Totally agree........

I knew that would be met with some adversity and I'll live with it. Strome is turning into about as complete of a player as you can be. He has been arguably our best fwd this year and is getting better and better. Also, he's a center and is showing elite potential in his sophomore year. Centers are much more of a commodity in today's NHL.

If Strome is part of the convo my answer is NO let alone throwing in Reinhart and DeHaan. That's completely facking nuts. It'd be nice to have Hall but in no way is he a necessity. I still think the answer for JT's wing is on our team. Capuano just has to try something different the idiot. It may even be Strome.

Already as good a two way forward as Frans, and he's barely an adult.

Some people feel he is, others don't. There's definitely an argument that he could be.

One day... but right now.. he's not eve close.

Patches is great but not better than those guys. Ovi has played the majority of his NHL career as a RW. So has Nash though so I see your point that Ovi shouldn't be excluded especially since hes been playing LW a bit more this year.

You know what I changed my mind... Here's my offer - Bailey, Donovan, Johnson, Collberg and the rights Koskinen. If they throw in Perron, we can give them Strait.
- brodydog29

Serious offer to me would be Donovan, Mayfield and a first round pick. That's it. This won't do it just from a PR standpoint, but that's fine with me, because I don't want to get into a bidding war over that player. Here's a trade I would make, though- one of those second tier defensive prospects and a low end draft pick for Shane Doan. Another grizzled vet wouldn't hurt this team at all, and if it frees up another forward who can maybe bring us a better backup goalie, or another starter on D, I'm all for that.

#Isles send Griffin Reinhart back to BPT.

- Bags502

Either that, or they just don't want him sitting around all week.

Not even close? He ranks 10th in the league in points scored over the last 3 years. The players ahead of him are 5 centers (crosby, getzlaf, giroux, backstrom, seguin), 3 RWs (kessel, kane, MSL) and ovechkin who could be considered RW too. So he's definitely close if not the best.

I'm totally fine with anyone who doesn't want to trade for him and I'm not necessarily saying that I think we should. But that is not even remotely close to anything resembling a serious offer.

Depth defenseman, a depth defensemen prospect, and a 2016 first round pick? That gets you laughed off the phone.

Ill get killed for this post also but I have a feeling we are going to all like donovan by the end of this season.
- Cptmjl

The problem last year is that they paired him with minus 47 and minus 37, and there were whole months of last year where the entire team forsook defense of any kind. Put the kid out there with someone who can play.

Exactly...and three years from now, I'll be happier to have them than a guy who can't find his own end of the rink with built in GPS.

Per Capuano Boychuk and Hamonic are "coming along." Said there is a good chance they'll both back this weekend #isles

I don't think it would get it done but I would offer Edmonton something along the lines of this:

Reinhart, Dal Colle, Bailey and a goalie prospect.

Maybe they bite, maybe they don't.

- Bags502

That's far too much for that player. Reinhart maybe- you might convince me to do that...it's a lot better PR than the first offer, but other than that, you're just not getting anything else of that value from me. I'd have to watch a lot of tape of Hall in his own end of the rink and be very impressed to offer any more than that.

If hypothetically JT was on the oilers and the oilers said theyd trade him to you for strome + reinhart, would you do it?

I know its a lot... But Hall is proven and still young. Everyone I offered besides Bailey is unproven and you can even lump Bailey into that too...

Gotta give to get and I think this is fairly even. Just dont know if Edmonton would think a long these lines...

No team ever gets fair value regardless, so the best deal for EDM will be to try and get the most aspects that can fill holes.......

To be honest with you, no I probably would not. Then again, I think Tavares is still hurt, and playing like it, so it's probably clouding the judgment a bit. Again, for Hall, my absolute top end centerpiece would be Reinhart. They have six good offensive forwards and NO defense. That's what I would be trying to sell them.
