Because inevitably we will all start tossing out trade scenarios in which we acquire Taylor Hall:

http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/659024

Can we all just agree now that Bailey or Grabner should not be included in any of them?

Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make. I wouldn't make either of these trades. This organization finally has quality depth and these trades would gut it. Too many good players to give up for one great one.

Hall's game is growing too is all I'm saying. He already puts up tavares numbers and will likely put up multiple 100 point seasons. Playing on JT's wing and look out...crosby will no longer run away with the scoring title.

IMO many things come positive and negative with this idea. About 25 teams wouldn't mind putting a scorer like Hall on their team, some with solid pieces that EDM really needs - a #1 goalie for example. If I'm EDM, I'm looking to get A top line D man, future #1 goalie and leadership type forward. Yes, they need a C and that's why everyone looks at the Islanders because they are deep there.

My point is teams are going to bid against each other. TOR, BOS, CHI, MTL, TB, all have pieces to make EDM think about it. All of those teams have a goalie to spare too. The Isles have C depth and D prospect depth but I don't think blowing their load on Hall is a smart move. Hall is phenomenal. Great hands and a nose for the back of the net. He's also small and injury proned. Coming out of a team like EDM, how much back checking does he do? If the Isles get him and stick him with JT and KO, they have to hope their puck possession is through the roof because the thought of those 3 playing defense scares me. Kulimen, a top defensive fwd is there now and that line still struggles in their own end of the ice. I'd much rather keep our young pieces, look to fill that LW spot with a player at the deadline for something smaller, like a Perron or a Tlusty. Something that won't mortgage the future like Vanek almost did.

You know what I changed my mind... Here's my offer - Bailey, Donovan, Johnson, Collberg and the rights Koskinen. If they throw in Perron, we can give them Strait.

The poopty thing is that when the oilers do make a move and do basically sell their players for pennies on the dollar they'll likely do it outside their conference and to one of our rivals
- rangerdanger94

Yep and itll be for a hell of a lot less return than oiler fans are hoping for.

I'd be happy if we can just give them Strait. Forget the rest of the deal.

If the Penguins could somehow manage to get Hall the whole conference would be facked.

He's played better lately. I wouldn't be sad to see him go, but there is no reason to dump him.

They'd run away with the conference in the regular season but fleury and that defense scare no one in the playoffs and those 2 areas are the most important in the dance.

Maybe we should trade a king's ransom for him just to keep him away from any Metro teams

Yeah I wouldn't be distraught over it either but he seems to be finding his game. Thinking his offensive game starts rounding out soon.

I think they'll be stupid to trade him to begin with. They have other players they can get a decent return for.

I'd be curious to see what the price for Eberle would be, for us. Maybe him and JT can relive some of that '08 World Jr's magic together. Top line of Eberle-JT-Okie would look pretty damn nice.

edit: nevermind, forgot he was a RW

It would and I feel he is going to be the player to go not hall. Wonder what itd take realistically? Theyre looking for help now and im not giving up strome for anyone at this point. Im guessing itd center around dehaan? Rt wing or not itd give us more options up front.

I've been high on the kid for a while now, while he looked horrid in the preseason he's looked fine to me when he's played, especially the last two games. I really do think he'll be a capable 5-6 for us but whether or not he can actually bump anyone from the roster is unlikely this year. If boychuk and visnovsky both don't sign then I could see him on the bottom pairing next year, but I'm really hoping it's reinhart or pulock making the jump next season.

If he could stop with the half-ice stretch saucer pass attempts he could really turn into a serviceable bottom pairing/7th defenseman. He creates a lot of unnecessary icings. Otherwise, he's been mostly solid.

I will get eaten alive for this but I would consider paying something resembling that price for Hall.

Let me strongly reiterate two words in that sentence CONSIDER and RESEMBLING.

He's arguably the best LW in hockey. I think you have to at least think about a package involving some of those guys that Gentile mentioned in that article. I do not think the haul will end up being as much as he suggested, but it will no doubt be high.

Just asking, u really think Hall is the best LW in todays game??? Sorry bro, I don't...
Plus I wouldn't give up more than 1 top prospect for him and another 1 or 2 roster players not name (Strome/Nelson) Lee I would part with but that's all out of the kids. Grabs/Bailey/Clutterbuck all can be had too..... Call me crazy but on a lesser extent, rather have Perron - very underrated player (when healthy)

Not going to lie, hope Viz doesn't resign. Need room for a kid..... My outlook is to slowly promote and if Leddy & Boychuk resign to go along w/Hammer & DeHaan only leaves 2 spots available. If you get my point....

Hall is definitely top 5 and very possibly the best LW in the game. I remember you said you dont think Hedman is an elite defenseman either? You gotta brush up on hockey outside the Isles my man

I don't think it would get it done but I would offer Edmonton something along the lines of this:

Reinhart, Dal Colle, Bailey and a goalie prospect.

Maybe they bite, maybe they don't.
