The truth is Hall could be a Seguin on another team. So could RNH and Eberle. Even Yak could be a stud playing under leadership.

The problem is the management. All the way to the top.

You need a core player at every position. #1 goalie, #1 D, #1 forward. The rest can be had through trades and Free Agency.

All the Oils have is 3 and a half top forwards.

Chicago has Toews-Keith-Crawford
Boston has Bergerons-Chara-Rask
LA has Kopitar-Doughty-Quick

Oilers need to lose out on a deal to get that stud D. Take a chance on a young upcoming D or Risk on a guy in his prime. This years first and Hall could get that.

However, they will decide to develop one. By the time he's ready, they will have lost out on Hall, RNH and Eberle to free agency or trade requests. Oh and miss on on playoffs too..

This years first could possibly be a once-in-a-generation type player. That alone could easily get them the dman they need. Why on earth would they throw in Hall?

They won't make any moves until their draft position is clear. MacT getting behind the bench even briefly should spoken this loudly.

Would the Senators not need to pay him if he took a new job? I would think they would still need to fulfill their contract with him regardless of if he takes another job or not??

There is some sort of exit/out-clause all coaches have in their contracts. Until Paul Mclean either signs with another team or his contract ends with the Sens, Ottawa will be on the hook to pay him. If he does decide to sign with another team before his contract with Ottawa is up, his contract with Ottawa will absolve and he will be getting paid by his new team only. By no way does Paul Mcleans current contract with Ottawa hinder him from accepting any new coaching position anytime he wants. So if he really wants to stick it to Ottawa though, he shouldn't accept a new job until his current contract is up and make Eugene eat it.
