It is a HUGE game. They have a game or two in hand on some teams, but it's not enough to make up much ground.

Right now Toronto and the Rangers hold the wild cards. They are 12 points behind the Leafs and 5 behind New York. They have a game on the Leafs, but NY has a game in hand on them. Florida has 5 more points and a game in hand. Division-wise, they trail the Caps by 6 and both have played 29 games.

The good news is, they're right on the heels of New Jersey, Buffalo, Ottawa and Boston, and do have games in hand on all of them. The Flyers will need to get hot like they did last season.

In December, they had a possible 28 points to grab. They have taken 8 of a possible 12 so far. If they can keep up that pace and end up with 18 or 19 points this month, it will be a huge step in the right direction.

There's 16 possible points the rest of the month. I think they need to grab at least ten of those to stay alive and in the thick of things.

- Jsaquella

On the heels of Buffalo. That's quite a turn.

Yup, they've won the games they were supposed to here at home and grabbed a few points out west, and that's what they need to keep doing. No slipping. With Buffalo, Columbus and Florida playing well, the Flyers, with a few losses in a row, could easily find themselves in the basement eating stale chips and drinking cheap beer with the Canes.

Tomorrow should be a good game, and they are definitely catching the Bolts at the right time.

If they can get a good stretch where they can string together 6 or 7 wins in a row, they'll be in good shape. unfortunately, consistency is this team's biggest hurdle

In order for this to happen I'd like to see all hands on deck and the complete and total trust from the coach in all his players. We've won two in a row. Great! To me we've taken advantage of two teams playing just as poorly at the right time. Tomorrow is a real test and we might have caught some luck with Bishop getting hurt and Tampa playing the night before. I like the three current balanced lines. Mason seems to be at the top of his game. Most impressive to me is collecting points in the standings then the two game point streak itself. I'll be satisfied with an OT loss if we're out matched.

the division is pretty bad. i really do like their chances. maybe not of 7 in a row. but of consistently getting a good amount of points.

Actually a 5 game points streak (OTL vs ANA, W vs LA, OTL vs CBJ, W's vs NJ & CAR)

But I agree. I don't care about complete trust in each player, but I do want to see the Couturier and Laughton lines continue to see key minutes by earning them. I want to see the defense continue to limit mistakes and the forwards do a good job of supporting the puck when it's in their own end.

Mason's playing well enough to be an equalizer, but they need to avoid a repeat of the LA game, where he was the only reason they got a win.

The key is the wildcard teams, or teams in the hunt anyhow, are all flawed to some degree. The worrisome thing is, there's some teams that hve underperformed or dealt with injuries who will get healthy(NYR & Boston especially)

boston still scares me. they could be a team that sneaks in the playoff as a lower seat and upends a few teams

It's really a crap shoot. The Flyers need to build off what they have done to start the month of December. Gotta get points. If you're going to lose do it after 63 minutes and not before 60

It's become cliche but I'd like to see consistency and I'd like to see a match up where they overcome odds that they weren't expected to win...Ola the New York Rangers in Madison Square Gardens.

They're going to have to win some of those. Be a good idea to do something like that tomorrow night, and beat the Lightning.

Flyers basically need to win any and every game against Eastern Conference teams moving forward if they'll have any shot at the playoffs. Win or lose, no three point games. They have serious ground to gain and playing .500 or just above .500 hockey is definitely not going to cut it. If they aren't already playing like there's no tomorrow then I'm not even going to think this group has the slightest chance of seeing postseason action.

So long as Chara is pulling that jersey over his head, they are a threat. As soon as he goes, the Bruins take a tumble. IMO.

exactly.

and krejci has been out too. a very underrated player.

you get that pair healthy. bergeron. lucic ((frank)ing hate him so much, but the dude can be a literal monster) and then rask between the pipes.

if that crew is there and ready, they can beat anyone in a seven game series.

He's a beast, like you said. His iconic moment for me was when he ran Miller. That was brutal, and nothing happened. Of course, if karma is working as it should, Boston is going to sink as the Sabres become a powerhouse. I'm in favor of that if only because they are a small market team and have endured a lot of suckage these past years.

Lucic got hit then beat somebody up? Did you see him get laid out? It was quite awesome. Only time I've seen him look like a little female dog on the ice. He got laid the (frank) out, then cried about it.
