I agree... but time will tell... that media interview done by MacT didnt really reveal any strategic plan to dig this team out of anything... we are in the same ruts we were in the previous years- only deeper- yet now our payroll is near the ceiling and the youth of tomorrow is wasting away... Like send Leon to junior and not waste the entire year... also another telling quote/question from last night- forget who said it on twitter but it made sense- "How many players have progressed in the last 2 years?"

defensive game has definitely improved- but he has no confidence offensively anymore and I would have rather had offense opposed to defense- currently Yak is viewed as a bust cause at the end of the day- who gives a (frank) about +/-... its your points that matter...

That's absolutely scary. Is Mac T not making moves because he's afraid to or because the trades are simply not good ones to make? A new guy can come in like some big shot blow hard and make knee jerk trades that placate the masses , but actually suck?
The goal has to remain building an eventual contender. Should we be so eager for moves that make us a playoff team but no better than The Wild or Blue Jackets(2013)?

Our biggest hole is centers and we can't even make one single trade that would bring in some depth at center? We can't even make the small trades let along a decent size one that would have any sort of impact to our roster.

The sad truth in my opinion, is that this particular collection of players for whatever reason, are never going to contend. We all overestimated their abilities.

Doesn't mean they should trade everyone away for pennies on the dollar but the rebuild of the rebuild has failed. Much as I want new coaches and management Im well aware that it won't change what this team is. To wit: they suck.

I don't think the trades of that magnitude will ever happen again. Teams are just way more protective of the value of their draft picks.

Pronger value is probably the most we will see again in any trade, 2 1st round picks, 1 roster player, and 1 prospect.

Lol, no. I they trade Macdavid away, it certainly won't be for a collection of draft picks. It will be for proven NHL talent.

For years that's what the Oilers were. Loved the 7th or 8th place finishes. Just get in and who knows what can happen. The makeup of this team isn't built for a playoff push
