Looks like the Flyers as well as quite a few other teams may have overlooked big, tough, RH Dman, Madison Bowey, who was picked a few slots after Hagg, and who currently sits #3 in the WHL in scoring among Dmen (right above Sanheim). He will be a mainstay at the upcoming WJC. He looks like a good one. All the same, I was pretty happy with the flyers' top-2 2013 picks - a little less so with Morin due to the belief at the time that the Flyers may have reached a bit there.

I think the morin hype train has a lot to do with his size, which is nice but is not the end all be all of a player's outcome (look at how Myers has regressed).

Hagg is a better skater, moves the puck better, has a better shot (in terms of getting it off) and better hockey sense. Now those things could certainly change in the future, but right now it's not that big of a stretch to say Hagg could end up being better.

actually it has a lot more to do with what morin showed in preseason and camp. he looked pretty good... dominated physically, moved the puck well and was able to close gaps quickly.

I think he was only a first rounder to the Flyers.

Wasn't there a lot of noise that mtl wanted to trade up to pick him?

We will find out, something made the Flyers think that highly of him. And wasn't there rumors of Montreal wanting to grab him up, or was that another player?
- MJL

I believe what was said at the time was that Montreal was trying to deal with the Flyers to move up but they heard Monteal also wanted Morin so they didn't trade back with them. I think they thought Morin would have been there at Monteal's pick IF montreal wasn't also interested in taking him.

Good news for Flyers fans.

Craig Berube's team jumped four percentage points in the playoff chance. That is, Sportsclubstats.com now ranks the Flyers chances at post-season play at 18%, following Saturday's 5-1 rout of Carolina.

And then what? Sugar coat it with orange all you want, while wearing orange lense glasses and a Bernie Parent signed jersey, it's not going to change the fact that this club is NOT ... NOT... winning the cup with the current roster, or coach.

I don't root for them to lose, but I'm a realist. I don't sit back and say "oh golly gee, if this team sneaks in at 8, they're gonna make a run for the cup!"... This team needs some major adjustments... they might.. MIGHT make playoffs, but they're going nowhere in them. Again, I don't root for them to lose, but at this point, I would welcome a higher pick in the draft. They don't get McDavid at #1? Oh well.. guess they can settle for Eichel at #2...

But also like I've said a dozen times before, this team is just the right amount of "suck"... they're too good to get a decent pick in the draft, and suck too bad to go anywhere in playoffs should they make it...

What was Nashvilles asking price for Weber?

Flyers shoulda paid it....

- RoloTahmasee

Depends on who you believe, but the deal definitely included both Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier. Various reports had a Flyers #1 pick, Jakub Voracek, or both also in the deal.

I personally can't dispute any of that, I'm just wondering what made Morin a 1st round pick, and Hagg a 2nd round pick?

Travis Sanheim is more likely to be a number one defenseman than anyone the Flyers currently have on the roster or in the system.

Even Luke Schenn???
