Mike Richards could give a team like Montreal or Tampa Bay the edge they need to make the Finals. He made the Finals with the Flyers and won 2 cups in LA. Won an Olympic gold medal and STILL only 29 years old. Put him as the number 2 center in Montreal and he's back to 60 points. Slap the C on his sweater
too. - QuickSCF
You're California Dreamin'. Richards is way overrated |

Richards is nothing more than a 3rd line center and a cap hit of 5.75 till 2019/20 that's a hard sell |

Desharnais for Richards. The risk is all on the Habs with Richard's contract. - Champ
LA would probably take the risk of Richards over Desharnais. No way he competes night in night out in the West. Not good enough for LA's top 6, useless on the bottom 6. He'd be in the AHL. |

Surrounded by 2 big guys, Desharnais would be productive and keep in mind that Richards salary vs Desharnais. Desharnais has 2 year left after this year. |

Actually habs making a deal with kings, especially for richards or king, i dont see it fitting, as much as i would love to see eller gone, it doesnt seem right, however a rumour just released via canadien de montreal, is that the habs actually have interest in jeremy morin from the chicago black hawks, morin can not fit it on the team, and bergervin is big on this kid since his days in chicago, morin is 23 and has been quite successful in the ahl but never fit with the big club the hawks are going to move him, and iam quite certain morin will be a hab soon, it works.
but eller gone is number 1 priority, ive been saying it for years, i was sick when habs gave him that deal, eller for richards would be fantastic, but in a group with no captain and all kids working to see who gets the captaincy richards a vet would come in a ruin the game plan, no richard to habs, dwight king is a small possibility
im sticking too my guns, morin will be a hab |

Not sure why we'd want king when we have malhotra, prust and weise. I'm OK with that fourth line. Richards' contract isn't too good.
We already have 4 guys (plekanec, galchenyuk, eller and desharnais
0 for top 3 spots. Not sure it helps to replace eller or desharnais with a guy making 5.5M for god knows how long.
If they retain salary it'd be worth considering, I think. In the near-term I think it'd get us closer to a cup.
I'd be more interested in improving our d-core though. |

I think a 1st line forward for Yandle alone is pushing your luck, a prospect and pick is just Crazy. No would trade a Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, Getzlaf, Perry, Ovechkin, Nash or Stamkos for Yandle alone never mind the pick and prospect. If they want a forward they will get a 2nd line guy like Skinner, Pavelski, Hossa Schwartz or maybe You could land Eberle since his value may have dropped. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Eberle for Yandle and a second round pick. Done! The Oilers need a shake up, whether Ebs is fair value or not they need to change something asap. Maybe the chemistry in the room needs a change, "the kids" untouchable status is backnfiring.... |

A very, very old 29. His peak years are finished.
If a guy like Phil Kessel is 29, that's still young. Richards' size and style of play kills your body. |

I actually wondered to myself during the Habs/Kings game on Friday if Richards was playing. It was well into the 3rd period before I heard his name called. Besides I'm not sure Subban has enough respect for Mr. Richards yet... |

3x30= 90. That is to say there are 30 teams with three top line forward positions to fill.
Which equals 90. Not sure Top line player needs to automatically equal anybody you mentioned?
I understand you are trying to discredit EK cuz it is the cool thing to do, but making moronic statements like this really goes much further to discredit your knowledge of hockey as opposed to EKs.
Bobby Ryan is a top line guy, Pacioretty is, Kessel is, the list is literally 90 guys deep.
EK did not say top 10 scoring forward. - blarneylad
