I've had injuries along the same lines and they linger. It's not completely crazy to believe it could be connected to his injury.

I have too but we aren't elite athletes and a bad knee doesn't make for horrible decision making which is JT's problem right now. And I'll humor you and say their may be lingering effects. Wouldn't you simplfy your game even more?

I think its connected to his injury as well. If he doesnt resign thats life and we may get enough of a return that we will end up better in the end? There will be life after JT if he doesnt resign but with that said he probably will.

Absolutely right. The Isles played better last season after JT got hurt in the Olympics. I'm a fan of JT, but I have also stated that the guy has his limitations. He isn't good defensively. He rarely finishes his checks. (He and Bailey should have a contest to see who has the fewest hits in the NHL each season.) I like the kid's attitude, but someone needs to teach him to play a better all-around game. Otherwise, he's the wrong guy to wear the "C".

".... it starts at the top with the team’s captain John Tavares. In my opinion his play at even strength the past two months has been appalling."

I'm glad you said this, Dan. You have more credibility here than me.

Absolutely. There are just times when to me he looks a half step behind at times even in his skating which was never a strong suit of his. He doesn't look as strong on the puck either. His decision making is definitely off there's no denying it but to me he looks completely physically out matched at times and that's with players he would've skated through in past seasons.

I agree dan it is fixable. The problem is look who is in charge of fixing it. Jack Capuano. The same guy who thought it'd be a good idea to make his seventh defenseman his first pairing and give him over twenty minutes a night. His ideas to play wing on JT's line besides kulemin in game decision wise? So far Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin. Nothing will get fixed bcs when it does eventually itll revert to this stupidity at a later time. Is anyone catching on to this yet? Any sound decision this guy makes he soon after contradicts with stupidity.

Hes not intelligent and hes not a good coach. Im not trying to be mean here there just isnt any other way to put it. Once hes no longer coach of this team which will happen eventually I think people are going to be amazed by how good we really are. There is a boat load of talent on this team thats not being used properly. If Snow circles his wagons around Capuano the new owners will throw him out the door with him if they have any brains in their heads.

- Cptmjl

i agree and i believe jack capuano has to be the worst coach in history and the worst coach of any sport team

Retire you joke...dan you are beyond ridiculous. 91 has been incredible every season hes been in the league, and because hes going thru a slump on a 19-10 team you are going to criminalize him? Seriously you are a joke

Let me be clear I don't want the guy traded and I want him resigned. I'm a huge JT fan. I think he's going through a rough patch here that I'm 100% he will come out of better than before. I'm just saying if we lost him Bcs he didn't want to resign it's not the end of the world. Whatever team got got him would be a very lucky one.

Some players just get cold. I mean hell look at Claude Giroux last season. 15 games for first goal and later would be finalist for Mvp. Also look at Rick Nash last year. People were questioning his role with the Rangers and his play in playoffs. Look at him now. A top the league in scoring and has been NY best player. Streaks happen or players perhaps even lose confidence and dig themselves further. I think JT will be fine. Well unless he gets another season ending injury

Wrong. JT has shown good offensive talent. Period. End of story.

I agree. He will snap out of this. It's not like the guy isn't putting up points he's just not playing complete.

Not sure I understand your question, but I'll give it a try anyway. I rate players based on their overall game. That means that forwards must be defensively responsible, not just focus on scoring goals. A goal prevented is just as important as a goal scored.

So by u saying that JT is just an offensive talent, then by your terminology, JT is not a top 5 or 10 F in the league????

Nobody gets a pass on this team from me. I'd be a fraud if I picked and chooses who to critize. It's just my opinion. Nobody makes you read my work. Their are other islanders reporters on here where you can get your news and opinoln pieces from if you aren't happy

I don't agree he has for the most part dominated games in seasons past. He has the same talent as the elite in this league and can completely take over games. He's not zetterburg as far as his defensive game but he's not that kind of player. HIs play this year is light years worse than seasons past as far as give aways, defense, etc. that in no way means that hes not a elite player. Just means he's going through a rough patch. Happens to all players and becomes much more noticeable when it's one of your own.

IMO, JT is not yet a Top 5 forward, but he could be with proper coaching.

Sorry, I've never tried to rate them in that way. I was just responding to your question, and I don't think his overall game so far puts him at or near the top. Not exactly sure where he falls....

One could make an argument that the team we're playing tonight has 2 or 3 forwards who have a better all around game.

Yes, that is correct. I love his offensive talent, but .....
