Strome may be our best player on this team by the end of the season.

Yeah, pundits are always good for acting like the fans are idiots, but we can see as well as anyone else.

It's hard for anyone to miss how bad he's been.

Pundits need to act like they know more than everyone else. Times have changed. Just look at the convergence of reporters and bloggers. Fans are exposed to a lot more information.

Its not a coincidence that when the team comes around to our way of thinking they do well. Kind of wish they didnt have to come around to it. Probably could have grabbed another six points at least if our coaching staff didnt feel the urge to beat a dead horse.

Just think of the extra points we could have if we had a half way decent penalty kill.

That should be the coaching staffs number one priority but why do I get the feeling it never has been and still isnt?

I have the feeling they are trying to re-invent the penalty kill, and don't understand that it has failed miserably. They probably feel the players just haven't executed it properly.

What a difference one season makes! Last year after 30 games the Isles were 8-17-5. They had 21 points and were 9 games into a 10 game losing streak. We were happy for any win last year. The expectations have clearly changed.

To your point - yes, they could have a few more wins if they had better coaching. That fact hasn't changed from last year. Unfortunately it will dog us all season. However they are still on pace for a 109 point season and the 4th playoff spot.

I dont think its as much as an expectation as saying making it to the playoffs is great and everything but why bother? If you go into the playoffs with this PK youre pretty much pissing in a head wind.

I agree. He will snap out of this. It's not like the guy isn't putting up points he's just not playing complete.

Instead of putting an offensive whiz like Strome as the fourth line center why don't they convert him to lw on the top line and I would bet the line would take off. Either that or try and get Niederreiter back, lol.
Seriously playing Strome on a fourth line is ridiculous.

Strome should be on the first line with JT and KO. That simple.

Yes and no. Cappy rolls 4 lines consistently. So in his (dumbass) system the line doesn't effect ice time. Also against the Hawks the 4th line with Strome was arguably the most effective line. They certainly had the most jump.

Strome looks to be the real deal - he makes almost anyone he plays with look better.

I thought I read during the summer that Capuano said they were going to put Grabovski and Kulemin on the same line. I don't think they have done that yet...

Idk if that was just press chatter or if it was concrete but I remember hearing that was what they agreed upon when they were signed. I think they spent maybe a couple shifts together but that was it. Like to see someone else in kulemins spot and those two given a shot on the same line if not than grabovski on the first.

you've got some games in hand but need to win them. That said, I didn't expect the rangers to hang around 500 for long. as long as we both put the caps in the rear view mirror, we'll both be happy.

If we get the 2 and 3 seeds in the division we would play each other right? That would be a crazy series (where the experienced rangers and world class lundqvist oust the young islanders).

im happy again. Saturday game was back to the plan. Yes Benching strait has a lot to do with it.

Now they need to get Strome off the 4th line and we in business. Our possession game was way better. Also Kumelin needs to get off top line. He just going through motions.

We get back to playing that game and we will start another win streak.

Hamonic, Cizikas on for #Isles optional AM skate. Boychuk just joined the group.

This is all good news right on the cusp of another long winning streak.
I also think Boychuck should sit tonight and get the extra 4 days and play friday but if he is ready to go its hard not to let him go.
