Why didn't Dee mention that Cizikas Boychuck and Hamonic all practiced with the full squad today?? Isles posted that on their twitter before she posted the blog. In other news this is the most comments on a Dee bog in a long time

If it didn’t come up with the #teamstore on it, she probably missed it.

One reason the team is struggling is the loss of Boychuk. This guy is the real deal and I would open the vault for him. Boychuk is as important as anyone on this team.

I agree, I think they should go up to 6-7 mil a year for him

How much would you give Leddy at the end of the year?

If he keeps playing the way he is he's going to get a nice contract.

I think if we can get him signed fir two or three yrs at that number it'd be a steal. I doubt he commits longer for that little. Hes been good.

Bailey was "injured" and reinhart didnt play bcs they're part of a blockbuster deal with the oilers.

They aren't part of any deal with the Oilers.

As for Donovan and Strait, Donovan at least has been better than last year (not hard) and a decent depth dman. Strait on the other hand has been the worst dman in the nhl. He needs to go. If the Isles waive him, I don't see anyone claiming him. If Donovan is waived, he will be claimed.

As for Reinhart and Pulock, I completely understand why they are at the bridge this season. They are not considered part of our top 6 this season and thus, should play each night, not sit in the skybox. However, this is where Cappy loses me. It is painfully obvious that Strait isn't the answer. Why do you have Reinhart sitting? If it is a choice between the two, Reinhart starts, not sits. I could care less how much of a "vet presence" Strait is. I don't want to experience his experience anymore. Until I actually see the texts those at IM claim they have where Reinhart claims he wants a trade and its happening, I don't believe it. It seems simple to me...waive Strait. Have Donovan as your depth dman. Keep Reinhart and Pulock at the Bridge and only recall them when you are going to play them.

As it is we are facing a potential crisis in net. If Chad Johnson does not improve by the New Year, I can see a move coming to replace himin some way.

Of course he is, but he's an RFA NOT a UFA so that will temper his deal a bit. I think he's looking to make more than Hamonic. Leddy is a 3.4 mill salary this year but a 2.7 cap hit. I think you can expect him to go on a 3 year 12 million dollar deal. Personally, I'd prefer to lock him up for more and perhaps you back load the deal so its a 4 million dollar cap hit but he's getting a 4 mill hit over 5 years.

Remember, Boychuk is making less than Hamonic and his contract is going to set the tone for Leddy. We can wait and see what happens with Boychuk, because Leddy is an rfa.

Same with Brock Nelson. He makes 900K this year and is an rfa. He's going to get a nice pay increase.

Between the increases due to those three, don't be shocked if BOTH Bailey and Grabner are moved. Both make over 3 mill a season and the Isles will need to move them for cap space to sign the priorities.
