So Luke Schenn in for MDZ, while the assorted untouchables remain in.

This mess isn't all Berube's fault. He got dealt a bad hand. But he's playing it poorly. It's like he's at the World Series of Poker asking if anyone has any threes.

- Jsaquella

yes hes been dealt a bad hand, but is he really getting the most out of these players?

Yup. I just didn't think the number would be that high. Then again, Canadian don't have to split their entertainment budget between a bunch of other sports. It would seem to make sense to add another Canadian team or two.
- wolfhounds

Problem is, even if they generate a lot more revenue than (most of) their US counterparts, they have to pay the players in USD. They litrally might end up having to pay 15-20% more to meet the same payroll.

The big Canadian markets print money, so it's no big deal, but that's gonna murder a team like WPG. QC would be in that boat, too.

eastern canada could support another toronto based team and a quebec team. consider that there 5 teams between boston, hartford, nyr, nyi, and njd in that narrow of a region at one point. does the nyc metropolitan area need 3 hockey teams? no.
not sure where else across canada could support any additional nhl squads that would be any different than bad american markets now. saskatoon was floated as a potential spot a long time ago. don't think that would fly.

in the us, the teams need to move north. simple as that.

- hammarby31

yea, New York supports two teams, cant tell me montreal, ottawa and toronto couldn't do the same, maybe even quebec.

he's not doing a good job. the fact that there are different scratches almost nightly is an indicator of that.

Del Zotto needs to pick up his game and get back to doing what he was doing for that stretch where he play was really strong. He's not the only one that needs to pick up his play, as that applies to pretty much the entire team. Del Zotto is not undeserving of the scratch. I think it's prety obvious that there is a competition for playing time among a few of the defenseman.

Haha, not a bad idea. Crude prices killing the peso, too. G&M did a piece advising Canadian snowbirds to skip FLA this year and hit Mexico instead:

Go south for the winter (but farther south than Florida) as Canadian dollar wilts

Not saying he is. The trouble is neither are Grossmann, Coburn or MacDonald. The first two are immune from being scratched and the third has been once.

When you have 6 out of 8 guys playing poorly, got to wonder why only 4 of the 6 need to worry about being benched

i mentioned them in my original post. it's absurd to have 3 teams that close together. 10% of league is within 20 miles of one another.
