if they fail to land 1 or 2, that is only when I think the sabres are seriously considering moving myers

If we end up with Hanafin that would be one hell of a D group.

Gorges
Hanafin
Myers
Pysyk
Risto
Zadorov

Tampa's offense vs that defense would be a great matchup.

it started out as a trade of myers to flyers for b schenn

pay attention stripes

But it evolved into why trade Myers away when he helps solidify the D corps.

Trading away a veteran d-man yet to enter his prime, thus hurting the defense, to "improve" the offense by adding a 3rd season .5 PPG forward doesn't sound good to me.

Clown.

If that were true they would have gone for it in FA and on the trade market.

Players don't tank, management does.

. We were talking about it here before, but while the defence is deep it still lacks a strong offensive presence (i.e point producer, powerplay qb). Either guy at 3 or 4 is more than capable of being that for us on the top pair.

Im not sure i'd consider it a failure, disappointment for sure but i think it only becomes a failure if Timmy does nothing after the fact. I have to assume that upper management has a contingency plan if they can't land McEichel.

I wish we had a Vatanen in our system.

Even if we do get the 3rd or 4th overall..that still lands us hanafin/strome/barzal. All 3 would be picked in the top two last year in my opinion

At this point, I think I'd take Strome for the offensive piece. he can be a stout center plus if we are tanking another season, he can play in Juniors again.

And then you say hey we have a 1st round + McCabe. Give us a forward who can score a lot.

Saw that... speaking of lots of badness. How Toronto manages to win with that defense puzzles me.

Only in $ because we needed to reach the floor. Who did they sign? Benoit? Meszaros?

He has more than enough assets and money that if he really wanted to go for it he could have this off-season.

Sabres would have been chasing trades and looking for guys like Stastny and Jokinen(the good one, sorry 89).

Al, the Sox got Porcello
- dadeadhead

Porcello, Bucholz, Kelly and Miley is a meh rotation but we'll see. They added Masterson as well. They need an ace. I hope Sherzer or Shields is still on their radar. My ideal rotation in order would be Shields, Porcello, Bucholz and Miley. Kelly and Masterson could get their starts as well.

Their place in the standings. A team looking to make the playoffs the following year does what the Islanders did. Mortgage the future for right now and address positional needs. The sabres addressed 2 needs, leadership and getting to the cap floor.

The whole off-season all we heard out of the sabres is that they were taking calls, mostly for Myers. Even during the year, You'll notice that all the talk has been murray sitting back and letting people call him

Odds are probably a lot higher but they could wind up moving someone else like mccabe or zadorov.

Hopefully no.

Like I said having 4 stout defensmen could be key.

Risto-Myers-Hanifin-Zad with Gorges leading the way.

I like that a lot

So it's tanking to make smart long term moves for your team. Tanking, to me, is willfully trying to lose. Like what Darcy was doing last year. Rr at coach, having 5 guys on your roster who are no longer in the NHL, trading off all your good players.
