You don't have to win for a team to be an example of get in and anything can happen. When you go to the Cup finals, you're that close. Bottom line is that get in and anything can happen is true. And that's been proven, but maybe your confusing get in and anything can happen with saying that get in and your odds of winning the cup are high. That cliche doesn't state that. All that cliche states basically is get into the playoff and you have a chance. So stating that it's crap is false.

Who cares if you get to the finals and lose. You still lost. The Flyers haven't won in 40 years. Just getting there shouldn't even be considered a success anymore. The cliche is meant that you could win the cup but as shown without the talent, that chance is nominal. I could also bang Jennifer Lawrence if I met her. The odds of that happening are about the same as the Flyers winning a cup anytime soon.

The Flyers have zero to do with the cliche. Again, the cliche doesn't state that if you make the playoffs the odds are good that you'll win the cup, only that you have a chance.
