Yeah, I think he has been for two games or he will be the next game as well. I guess the management called him soft too. Stewart has this year only, I don't know if we can even do dumoulin straight up

If they could get Scuds to agree to Western New York, Scuderi for Stewart would actually be a somewhat fair trade.

Dumoulin alone is a severe overpayment for Stewart.

I do agree atm, but he's in buffalo.. he has nothing to play for. A change of scene and I think he could be great here. Maybe we can even resign him for cheap

If you are going to move a young Dman who you have RFA control over for the next 3 years, it shouldn't be for a pending UFA who you have to hope will suddenly drastically improve his game.

Too very bold statements...I think theres way more risk with Stewart than reward. He really doesnt play like a power forward and never has...plus he is a reclamation project with a bad attitude at this point...... so I think its better to just pursue others.

On Oshie and Steen...both come at a hefty salary but with the Dupuis relief and/or a Martin trade, we wold have the room. With all things considered (cap, cost to acquire, etc) I'd rather try the Dumoulin for Rattie trade. Plus again, I have no idea what St. Louis needs or wants. They have a very balanced roster.

In my opinion the most likely trade candidates are Tlusty, Stafford, and Morin. One of the first two along with the later would be my choice.

I am a big fan of Tlusty and think that Stafford could have success here as a rental. Morin is a guy I think would fit well in our future plans.

Stewart's got a muffin top. Straight up fat.

I'd rather try to play Dumoulin at forward than trade him for Stewart.

And I'd much rather have Stafford than Stewart.

I agree and I dont even want Stafford. I dont think Buffalo is where we should be looking for answers, especially at Tim Murray prices.

Amen. Like I said earlier, if the guy is playing like this in a contract year, that's a huge red flag. I don't care if he's being held back by the talent around him. It's no excuse to not try. Risky IMO.

I would agree with that.

And I actually like that Tlusty has cooled off. No points, -3 since that 2 goal game against the Pens. His value was rising via a hot November.

Stewart could be high risk, high reward. More I look at it maybe a draft pick. But with dumoulin being showcased over the other prospects who are ahead of him, and stewart being healthy scratched.. maybe they have talked already?

I would rather move dumoulin for rattie or as a piece in a steen/oshie trade. Not sure of those two who I'd want more though.

Edit: isn't everyone always complaining about size? Stick him with geno and he will put up points regardless

Yeah... He shows just enough to get people excited, then disappears.

I don't really view it that way. Pouliot is an AHL rookie, he's not coming up in December just to come up, regardless of how he plays. And Harrington hasn't been playing as well as Dumoulin at WBS. You don't bring up Harrington just because he's nominally ranked higher on a theoretical prospect depth chart, you call up the guy who is playing well. When you're down a ton of bodies, you have to bring up the guy who will help you, not the guy that you think scouts want to see.

There's also a risk to showcasing a player. Like, they're on the ice for a ton of goals against like Dumoulin was the other night.

From what I've heard harrington and pouliot have been playing better than dumoulin, but that is managements decision and assessment. Also with the showcasing dumoulin thing, he played great hockey and definitely showed he was NHL ready. The last game was ehh, but he made smart decisions with the puck and he was also put into some bad situations.. He didn't act fast enough on the st louis cross crease though, he had a slow stick

I've watched quite a few WBS games over the last month, and Dumoulin was playing better than Pouliot and Harrington.

And if you don't trust me, trust Jonathan Bombulie:

– With Kris Letang banged up and Robert Bortuzzo sick, Brian Dumoulin also got called up today. He and Taylor Chorney have been a lights out pair the last month or so, and with Chorney injured, Dumoulin was the obvious choice. Scott Harrington, Philip Samuelsson, Derrick Pouliot and Reid McNeill have been doing some good things, but Dumoulin was a cut above. Chorney, incidentally, isn’t expected to be out long.

I wish I could get WBS games.. anyway to stream them for free? Dumoulin looks like he's been the best with how he played, he just had a rough last game with some bad bounces. That happens to anyone though

I use the same stream every game to watch the Penguins, but for WBS games I have to search the night of the game to find a feed. Googling the teams in the matchup and the date usually works.

Remind me on game nights and I'd be happy to share via PM.
