He's playing in a professional league with men now, and is second on his team in scoring, despite playing about half as many games as anyone else.

their season in Finland ends on march 12th. I believe that the NHL trade deadline is march 2nd so Kapanen isnt a viable option for this season, but he sure could come play in the AHL after his season is over.

Yes he is. He is a signed member of the Pittsburgh Penguins and is on the 90 man reserve list as a member of the team. he is eligible to play for the Penguins once his season in Finland is over.
That would spell the end of his contractual obligations to KalPa and begin his contract with Pittsburgh.

However, he is not eligble to play in the AHL playoffs if he is not a rostered member by the trade deadline. NHL = Yes, AHL = No. Weird but that's what it is.

That AHL "clear day" rule was ended last season. Like the NHL, he's eligible to play in the AHL playoffs as long as he is on the playoff roster submitted to the league at the end of the season.

All this talk about trading Letang, Malkin, and Fleury is a waste of time. Guys, we are not only cup contenders, but maybe even cup favorites when everyone is healthy. We will not be shaking up our core. Something did have to change, but that shake up came in the form of bringing in a new system, getting a new brain trust to run our FO, and trading away the locker room cancer otherwise known as James Neal (not too sold on that. Seems to be doing just fine in the Music City). Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz, Letang, Fleury, and Maatta are going nowhere until we prove that we are still broken. Any trade suggestions that involve anything other than Martin, Sutter, Spaling, D prospects, and picks are never going to happen. Maybe Scuderi if we are all very lucky.
- Victoro311

I never thought he was a cancer in the locker room. I thought he was one on the ice though. I think he made 71 kind of follow his lead at times and that wasn't good.

I would refer to how 71 is playing this year as evidence. More focused. More disciplined. Back to the ass-kicking Russian we know and love.

I didn't know they ended that. Thanks. I was under the impression it was still in place.

Damn, Islanders lose their second game in a row where they lead 3-0 after the first period.

That team would be a legit contender with a real coach.

- rival22

If they got one more d-man and one fw with some size, look out... Darkhorse Finals team IMO. We know their GM isn't afraid of bold moves. Plus, they are a matchup nightmare for the Pens.

They are a sleeping Giant. When they move to Brooklyn....damn...

Kasperi is killing it Finalnd. Last year he had 47gp 14p and I heard that was good for a 17 year old and thought that can't be.. but this year 17gp 16p. He will be good for AHL next season to start out unless he has a strong camp (I think he will) but he will play NHL sometime next season. Depending on any moves we make this year we possibly could see him in the NHL after his season is over this year but I think they'll move him to the AHL. IF he kills it in the ahl after his season is over we could see him, but the possibility of that is very low. This kid is gonna be great..

Next year

Kunitz-Sid-Horn
Kap-Geno-possible trade
Bennet-Sutter-Comeau (resigned)
Klink-Sundqvist-downie (who knows on the 4th line)

All depends on dupes health, he could play 3rd line or with sid with kunitz going to second or with sid

Did you see what was thought of what the sabres wanted for Stewart? 1st, young roster player and a prospect for a rental? Pass. Dumoulin and a third.

For Stewart I would hesitate on giving up a third.

Wasn't he a healthy scratch last night? His coach gave him a public verbal spanking in the media. If he's playing this poorly in a contract year, give 'em a 3rd and they should be happy.

Yeah, Oshie hasnt scored 30g in a season yet. I wouldnt mind him on the Pens and I think he would flourish here, but a bit over hyped IMO. Same with Eberle, scored 30g 1 time and he is soft and everyone wants his 6mil cap hit.

Oshie would be better than Spaling and Downie playing on the first line, but I think they can find something better. In Oshie's case, 2 more years of term is kind of a negative instead of a positive.

Dumoulin alone is a severe overpayment for Stewart.

Yeah, I think he has been for two games or he will be the next game as well. I guess the management called him soft too. Stewart has this year only, I don't know if we can even do dumoulin straight up
