Maybe but not for Nino or any the players you mentioned.
- Tony Dean

Right now today I would give Coyle for Martin... Even though my hopes are still high for him, I have a feeling IF Coyle does end up being the player we want to see, it's not going to be for a couple of years yet.

Therefore I'd be willing to give up his future play here for immediate team improvement... all of course contingent on Martin re-signing of course.

Agreed. I do like the looks of Folins point shot! Not necessarily a bomb, but he looks like he could be surgical with it given enough time.
- MnGump

Yeah and it's not like Spurgeon has a bomb but he is pretty accurate.

What is up with that guy? Just won't engage physically and never seems to have the puck. I wonder if he is 100% healthy.
- Chinaski

Good question. Everyone was talking about the comeback type of year he would have after his "miraculous playoffs playing with 2 bum shoulders"
I've noticed a little more speed from him this year, but his puck handling seems to be worse, and like you said, he hardly ever shows much of a mean streak...heck, I've seen numerous opportunities where he could have delivered a nice check and he's backed off.
I'm not such a huge physicality advocate because I like seeing guys laid out, rather the effect it has on players making sloppy passes and bad decisions knowing a hit is about to come their way. This is one of the few things I like about Brodziak's game, though I haven't seen it in a few games now. He is very good at throwing his body at an opposing d-man with the puck, separating him from the puck, and making a nice setup pass.

The only thing I am hesitant about, is the fact that Coyle can play center and we all know how poor our center play has been this season.

Aside from Koivo's stellar faceoff skills which Pants and Greenlay have to remind us about nightly

I'm not as high on Spurgeon as others are. He is good offensively and sound from a position stand point but I think we are seeing teams bully him more, especially in front of the net where he cannot move out bigger forwards screening the goalie. His - numbers are worse, and I thought last year during the playoffs his lack of size was really exposed and that seems to have continued this season. His stock will never be higher than it is now, so I wouldnt be opposed to moving him out, especially if it was for a center who can score!
- mnhockeyguy

I have never been a big Spurgeon fan, but I will say it is not a coincidence that the team does seem to struggle when he is out. He is one of, if not the best puck moving d-man on this roster and he does do a lot of the little things well. I just cannot get past the amount of goal highlights I see against us where he's attempting to clear the crease only to fail miserably at doing so.

Ditto. Take it easy on us. We are beat up and yes its a premeditated excuse.

Edit; and it continues to get worse for us... Halak must have gotten injured in practice

Nice to see him doing well. Where the hell did all this depth come from?! Isles have got a pretty nice roster...on paper, at least.

No doubt, but good enough to keep this pace?
Looking like the Wild didn't get much sleep last night & Isles bringing a strong forecheck so far...you got this.

Id like to think so? We have depth, grit, scoring, good goaltending(minus johnson), been playing missing key players for most of the season and still dominating most games. This is the best islander team ive seen since the early nineties maybe earlier. Corsi, fenwick, ga, everything realistic and dominant. Special teams need some help especially pk is the one area hopefully that can be worked out. With that said we will probably blow this three goal lead and crap the bed.

He got away with a minor for that wild slash on Tavares. That should have been a major. We sat back and watched after the first, poor coaching and Johnson is brutal.

Okposo took a similar chop at Granlund, granted it didn't land as "cleanly" as Scandella's... it's a bullpoop play that should be called a major simply for intent.

Fitting that Vanek and Knight rider scored the tying and winning goals. Neither real pretty, but effective nonetheless.

Wild are lucky the isles thought the game was over and decided to coast.

I believe the Isles had 5 shots on goal from the start of the 2nd period all the way up to the final PP/pulled goalie finale. And I thought Yeo sucked...

I don't disagree but in all fairness Tavares got away one of his own on Scandella just seconds before that.

But as usual, NHL officiating leaving much to be desired
