Letting him walk is an option after the season, but not in the middle of a year. Yes, they could waive him and send him to Rochester for the rest of the season. It's possible he could get claimed. But if he doesn't, now you have a logjam in goal there. While Lieuwen and Makarov have struggled (Lieuwen moreso), you have something invested in each one of these guys. They're all guys that have been in the system for a bit. We gave up Pominville for Hackett and Larsson. I'm not so sure Larsson will really make much of an impact at the NHL level, so I don't want to just give up on Hackett yet either.

Zadorov and Karabacek came from the trade as well

Everyone thinks we have such great prospects in the AHL and we are set,we are far from it.

You'll be alright. You'll have a pretty solid team in 2-3 years.

You're misinterpreting what people say when they mention our great prospects. The majority of them are still in Jr or College. There are about 5 in Rochester and the rest of the roster are just career AHLers.

Pysyk
McCabe
Armia
Girgorenko
Makarov

Those are the guys that will end up in the NHL.

- HonkFortheGoose

yeah rochester is not loaded, it's all the prospects not in rochester that will round out the future sabres

Carrier and Ruhwedel are the only other players in Rochester that should sniff the NHL
Maybe Larsson

It's always very hard to determine that it's time to cut ties with a losing proposition, but keeping someone who isn't going to work out just to avoid the loss only compounds the problem. It's good money after bad.

Sure, but what else can you really go by?

It's a hell of a lot better balanced than what the Oilers did.

True. Carrier is finding his way right now. Ruhwedel has been a solid addition, but even if he falters, who cares? He was a college FA signing.

I mostly just think it's too early to tell if they're not going to work out. Neither has really been given a chance to succeed yet. It's hard to judge what they'd do on an NHL roster when the rest of that roster is already ridiculously subpar. I realize that Girgensons is thriving despite that, but he's not a typical player by any means.

But these guys aren't cutting it in the AHL. They have been given a chance and coughed it up. It's time to move on.

Did the Roku and internet ,air tv for almost 3 years. Everything is available on the net. Have a good pc that is wired to your tv and hi-speed and all is well.

Thank you homie, gil, and cabin. Its great to hear how other people did it. Hopefully sidestep a few landmines along the way. Verizon supposedly offers internet plus hbo and showtime at 50/50 for $60 a month with a two year contract. Guess its a new thing, but i already bundle with them and when my wife called yesterday they were not at all open to change. Its a combination of bald faced extortion and the worst used car salesman youve ever met.

I think Ruhwedel can do well, its not like we will try to make him a top 4 guy. Perfectly capable of being the 5,6

I dont think getting rid of Marrone is the best idea. cant just keep firing a coach ever 3-4 years.

orton should be gone. We can do the same thing and pick up a vet in the offseason

Goalies are hard to judge. They all develop at different speeds. I thought Hackett was holding his own fine here last year until he got hurt. The team in front was so awful there was no chance for him to have any type of real success.

Larsson has 18 points in 21 games and is a +3. Is he absolutely tearing it up? No, but I don't expect him to. But considering that the team is doing poorly, having a + rating shows his play isn't the problem.

I think the coach there needs to go. While the team isn't loaded with talent from top to bottom, there's still plenty of it on the team that they should not be mired in the skid that they've been on. The first 9 games or so of the season prove that.

he coaches scared
his boy is the calling the plays
has no clue why hughes was benched
pathetic coach decisions

you look at the dolphin game, texan game and chiefs game, they were all losses due to coaching

the charger game, team was not prepared
the bronco game, he goes for it early instead of kicking the field goal, punts on 4th and 2 down 14 points with less than 6 minutes to go, and just looks over his head on the sidelines

I have read book before and I know how the story ends

Whaley should stay IMO.

Outside of the Manuel pick, he's accumulated a lot of talent on this team. His FA signings for the most part have been good too.

Graham and Spikes were great pick up's. Chris Williams and Mike Williams not so much.

Manuel bad,Goodwin bad
Woods,Alonso,Preston Brown, Seantrel Henderson, Nickell Robey, Watkins,

IMO they still need a minute eating d man
a few faster wingers that can pop in 20 goals a year

I still say they need to get one player that is not afraid to get dirty on each line

girgens fills it on the second line

if they kept stewart, he would fill it on the third line, long term I think it's lemieux

screw it over pay for ror (I kid)

- homiedclown

May I alter the part in bold above to morph it into a request for a PPQB D man? The team is sorely missing that.

Also, Chad Ruhwedel is very underrated and has been quite well for Rochester. It was a heck of an FA signing and I think he is the ideal stabilizing bottom pairing D who can play any of the 5-6-7 role and not even hurt you as the 4 when the situation is dire. I would keep him all day unless he is part of a package going the other way for a difference making center/winger.

Coaching deficiencies can be masked by decent QB play.

Replace Orton and Hackett, keep the GM and Marrone (on a short leash)
