Ours does as well, I'd like to see Quebec back.
And even though it's a pipe dream, I'd love to see them move a team to Saskatchewan. - Sabresfan-365

I just watched the florida video, if it was not done on the heal of the storm, it would have been funny
bad timing, poor judgement on their part |

did you read what I posted?
you need 5 plus years of quality play to get the fans interested, otherwise they will not show up til playoffs
it's totally different down here in the south - homiedclown
Bingo. You can't put a piss poor product out, and say "trust us, the product will be better in a few years so pay money to accept the poop we're shoving down your throat now because it will be worth it". People won't go for it, which is why it hasn't "worked" in Florida. You're kidding yourself if you think the attendance would be this bad if the team was a perennial Cup contender. |

Seattle has to get together and build an Arena first . Kansas City has nice new arena begging for a tenant.

You cannot sustain a viable professional league on franchises that only have good attendance when they are cup contenders.

I'm surprised you're taking such a simplistic view of the matter
In considering the viability of the market, wouldn't a reliable analysis have to recognize that very few franchises have the Ability to sustain cup contention year after year? So that if the market will only support the team under conditions that are not realistically achievable - doesn't the league have To admit the experiment failed? |

They have an arena. Yay. Have they done any studies to determine if the team will be more viable than a team in southern Florida? Isn't that mainly a football area? Does the city have the kind of people/money to support football baseball and hockey? |

True, but this would be in everyone's best interest. At least this way you'd actually hear the fans during the game.
Of course, that also means this board would lose me, and i know how devastating that would be |

Can't be any worse than Florida . When they had the Scouts . They were second fiddle to the basketball team . Now there is no basketball. Both Football and Baseball do very well there . Even when the teams are not winning.

Saskatchewan could support a team . The provincial support would be amazing . They come from far and wide to see the CFL Riders. The Arena is a little under sized like Winnipeg's but a very nice facility.

I was taught while getting my MBA when doing an accurate analysis . Less is more . Be succinct and to the point . Do not try and use too many words to get across you are an authority. Most intelligent business people will see right through that tactic.

No, but it's when the team is a Cup contender that a fanbase is built. Like Homie said, Tampa's fanbase was built and stabilized once they won a Cup and again when they became a contender (i.e. Stamkos). Florida has had none of that. They made the Finals in 1995, and have dwelt at or near the bottom of the league since. People need a reason to show up. When you're dealing with a new market, that reason is winning. That's why Carolina, Nashville, and Tampa have all worked, and are at least sustainable, and Florida, Phoenix, and Atlanta have been disasters. The former have all put forth a product worth watching, the latter haven't. |

Is it approved? Is there financing?. How long will construction take? Kansas City is ready to go . Give Seattle an expansion franchise when everything is in place. |

20 years proves to me that this experiment is a failure . Enough already . If the league wants to improve revenues . The first step is moving this franchise to a market that can sell more ticket when they are not in the Stanley Cup finals.

All it takes is $$$. He works for the owners. If they could get 500 million and up per franchise. It will happen. That money does not get shared with the players!

You need a winning product to start building a loyal and stable fanbase. You get people interested by winning, not by wallowing in ineptitude for 90 percent of the franchise's existence. Of course they can't be a perennial Cup contender all the time, but they can reasonably be much, much closer to it than they have been. They haven't even been mediocre. They've been downright awful, just like Atlanta and Phoenix. |

they would also find a way to get hockey on espn to increase exposure
have nbc show nightly games on prime time saturday nights
have nhl regular season games be played in other areas (why not have 3 or 4 games in quebec, kc, vegas, jacksonville, houston, etc)
I do not think it would hurt to have 40 home games in your arena instead of 41 and play 2 games at neutral sites in north america
you want revenue, grow your markets, develop new markets in north america, think outside the box and do whatever you can to get more exposure
bettman has failed miserably on this and takes the fans from the 26 or so stronger markets for granted

They very well may need to move the franchise. I've never actually disputed that. Like I said before, I actually think they will. The mismanagement of the franchise over 20 years may have dug them in too deep of a hole. What I have a contention with is the notion that it's because of the market and solely because of the market. The fact that people are so dismissive of winning as a factor is simply puzzling to me. |
