Unless you're in the dreary Philadelphia area, you can just keep your criticism to yourself. And if you just so happen to be heading to one of the better vacation spots on the planet, you can eat it.

Now, I'm going to be laughing at all of you even harder when I'm sitting at my favorite Key West bar in a few hours, sipping a drink and enjoying the 75 degreee evening!

Personally I think he has been misused ever since they signed him. Mostly since he injured his back last season. He has never had the linemates to compliment his skill set. I would be interested in seeing how Voracek on his RW looked.

All Vinny would have to do is be a net presence. Voracek is carrying the G line right now as it is anyway. He is all over the place. Giroux has 1 even strength goal.

I didnt miss any point. I would rather have Del Zotto types on one year deals than 6 years of an Andrew MacDonald type because we are desperate.

Its signing deals like that that have us in this mess in the first place..

It wont be bargain shopping every year if you are able to free yourself from this terrible pattern of over-paying for players who are not significantly better than other available options.

Nothing to do with being desparate. I'm so glad that Flyers management doesn't show an signs of being in the complete panic that some fans are, due to the current losing streak. Come back off the ledge, it's not that bad!
MacDonald is a quality defenseman. He's a little overpaid, but it's not a death sentence to the Organization. The only contracts I have any real concern over going forward is Lecavalier and Umberger. And they can even be dealt with.

Are you really suggesting that VLC is the equal of Giroux? Really?

And 14 ES assists, several of which set up Voracek's goals.

My problem with the AMac contract isn't the cap hit as much as the length. He's a 2nd pair guy at best and if some of the kids pan out, which I think they will, he will be a $5 million 3rd pair guy by the 3rd or 4th year of the deal.

Not at all. Im saying Voracek could raise Vinnys level of play and hopefully Giroux could still have a productive line with say... Simmonds on the RW.

The odds of all the defense prospects panning out is what? One or more could be traded, not work out, etc. In 3 or 4 years, 5M for a quality 2nd pair defenseman will be peanuts.

I'm not sure anything can really help Vinny at this point. His skating is atrocious and he clearly shies away from contact. Now add that to his complete lack of a defensive game and you get a guy that should retire.

Look, when they signed the guy, I was happy. First off, I figured he'd still be good for 25 goals and 50 points, would help the pp, and give the Flyers a solid option at #2 center. However, he has never been the same since the back injury. I don't think he is playing poorly on purpose or not trying, I just think that physically, he just doesn't have it any more.

This poop happens. I can remember watching Steve Carlton during his last couple seasons, it was just sad. Vinny needs to realize that he's had a great career and its time to move on with his life.

I never said AMac was a "quality" 2nd pair dman, honestly I think he is a 4/5 guy. He can play on a 2nd pair, if you pair him with a better player or he can anchor a 3rd pair. And, I do think 5 mil is a bit much for that.

If Lecavalier actually works and moves his feet, his skating isn't atrocious. He simply wasn't doing any of the things that have made him successful in the past, including at times last year. He was standing still half the time he was out there.

That's a good one, but my favorite place is a little locals hangout way off the beaten path called Shanna Key. It's an Irish Pub with the best burger in Key West and all kinds of fine whiskeys and brews!

Plus I'm friendly with the owner and most of the staff and they are just a great group of folks!

Who said that you did say that? I think MacDonald is a solid 2nd pair puck moving two way defenseman. I'd have preferred around 4.25-4.5M for him. But I'm not going to make a big deal out of that overpayment. He fills a need.

I think more then anything, Lecavalier needs to raise his level of play. He better be showing in practice that he should be put back in the lineup.

VLC is a mess and has no business playing in the NHL anymore. He's clearly lost a step from JUST LAST YEAR, and since his game is 100% offense, if he can't even skate well enough to get open in the offensive zone, he is totally useless. He never wins any board battles and is a black hole when it comes to neutral zone play, defensive zone play and possession.

Agreed.

At least Umby theoretically has something to offer in a bottom-six role. Vinny might be the most non-versatile player I've ever seen. Unless he's on the PP, with somebody carefully setting pucks on a tee for him in the right circle, he brings absolutely nothing. Even Danny Briere could at least play wing and contribute if the game reached a SO. Even Rinaldo can skate and freakin' kill penalties. Even Rosehill adds a little value by being able to practice as a defenseman.

Vinny's become a sad one-trick pony.

Are you Claude Giroux??? You are getting quite defensive. Also I am not talking about last season. I am talking about this season. He has 28 pts in 25 games and most of those points are secondary assists from just handing the puck to Voracek so he can dominate. His goal scoring touch isnt quite there yet this season either. Judging on watching him play.... he does not seem like the same player in 2012. Thats just how I feel. He'll get his points and even in games when he is unoticeable BUT he got a point so he was awesome.... I have high expectations for Giroux. I would like to think he has the talent to be one of the top 5 players in the league. To me he has not shown it.... THIS SEASON.
