I know this might sound crazy but I am little disappointed in Giroux. His shooting and nose for the net has not been good. Yea sure he can pass but he has yet to hit that next level we need from him this season. When will he go in beast mode?

I gotta tell you, G (and Jake) is the last of my concerns with this team.

Wait... Okposo is as good as Giroux?

I'm going to risk missing the sarcasm to clarify that he's talking about Jakub

The only players id sell off are some of the old d guys, and only if we know some of our prospects will be nhl ready next year.

Well that and umby and vinny lol

agree. I mean, I don't want to see the young core be moved for the sake of it.

I don't agree. if they are not a playoff team come trade deadline (and I don't mean a few points out), I am all for selling and trying to pick up assets
- nastyflyergirl

I think there's a big difference between trading some veteran players at the trade deadline, for future assets. Versus purposely trying to lose games.

Mine as well. I just feel everyone outside of Voracek could be better. Voracek brings it EVERY night. Giroux seems too laid back to me.

I am talking about being clearly out of the playoff race......I am ok with selling and picking up assets and honestly I would be happier than a MDZ in a porn movie if they got a top 2 pick

The way they are playing right now, we dont need to try to tank games...we are already doing that, and if that play continues gutting the roster wont make this team play any worse this year, it will just hurt next year.

I dont want to gut the team, just need to shed some of the old hommer contracts.

Through the last few years, there's been a lot of talk about how the Flyers should build. How they should stop using Free Agency, and stop going for the quick fix, and concentrate on building through the draft. I certainly agree with that to an extent. I think a team should use all the tools and methods available to them, to build a team. Which includes the draft, trades, free agency, waiver claims, etc. Use it all. Now there is a lot of talk about selling off veteran players for future assets. I don't disagree with that, if that's what it comes to. But do you ever notice how some teams are always sellers at the deadline? There's no guarantees. It's about making the right moves, regardless of what the mechanism is.

I understand that, but that's not tanking in my opinion.

I think what kind of sellers we are at the deadline all depends on how our prospects are developing, if one or 2 of the d men are ready for the nhl next yr, we can afford to dump say andy or grossman. Also if someone comes knocking for vinny ill trade him no matter what our record is.

This team doesn't need to actively tank to be in the running for Connor McDavid. They're already there.

That said, anyone who suggests tanking doesn't do so because they think one prospect will turn a team around. You tank to optimize the value of your draft assets across the board and build a stronger stable for the future.

I think some people hear the word "tank" and they think Hextall is going to walk into the locker room and tell Claude Giroux to lose hockey games. That's not how it works.

No one considers it reprehensible when teams sell off valuable assets when they are out of the playoff picture at the deadline(even if they're mathematically still in it).

Why is it an affront to hockey to start the sell off a few weeks sooner when you know your team doesn't have a reasonable shot at contention, let alone the playoffs.

Not saying I want the Flyers to tank out the season, I think there are still some obvious ways to optimize this roster if you want to go the bubble team route.

But I understand the perspective of people who do want to tank.

(sorry if I'm rambling a bit)

I'm surprised that Read's name has not been mentioned versus always Umberger and Vinny.
Read's game has fallen off since he's gotten his new contract.

Too much talent and not enough chemistry on this team and that includes Umberger and Vinny.

Damien Brunner on waivers. I'm not a huge fan of waiver pickups, but he's a FA at the end of the year. Depending on the Flyers' cap allowance, he's one guy I'd like to take a chance on.

You don't pay a player 3.5M that can check and play against top offensive lines, play on the PK, and put up solid scoring numbers at ES?

Want to know one of the biggest reasons the Flyers aren't a good team right now? Couturier and Read aren't playing up to their normal production levels and quality of play. They are that important to this team.

I blame the Bryzgalov signing for handcuffing this team so much. That and the Eminger trade. And probably something about Matt Carle and/or Jeff Carter.

I like Read. He has been pretty solid up until this year. I like his versatility and speed but if they were to move him for a nice return I wouldn't bat an eye.
