I'll comment how I please, and if I want to comment on one part of a post, that is also my right. And you completely missed the point.
With that being said, the best way to build a team, especially with the defense is to have continuity. Not bargain shopping ever year. More times then not, you get what you pay for. And if Del Zotto has a strong season, he'll have to get paid anyway. That's the points that you missed.
Everybody wants good players, but doesn't want to pay for them. - MJL
I didnt miss any point. I would rather have Del Zotto types on one year deals than 6 years of an Andrew MacDonald type because we are desperate.
Its signing deals like that that have us in this mess in the first place..
It wont be bargain shopping every year if you are able to free yourself from this terrible pattern of over-paying for players who are not significantly better than other available options. |

At least Holmgren didn't give up assets for the right to overpay MacDonald. |

Matt Mangene, a third-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and a second-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. |

That is part of my point..
Why trade a second rounder or whatever the hell he traded if you are gonna sign him at FA rate anyhow? Thats the poop that drives me nuts. Then he comes in, plays meh hockey... puts up meh numbers, and signs a 6 year 30 mil extension.

With Laughton playing so well, you have to keep giving him the minutes he's getting but you really can't keep Lecavalier scratched when your paying him that much money. You could play Lecavalier lower down in the line up but if he is going to have any chance to be effective at all you actually need to give him minutes. Tough decisions for Berube. |

Which is looking more and more like an early 2nd round pick in a very exciting draft class..

They didn't trade for him in the offseason, they acquired him near the TDL last year. They wanted him for the regular season and playoffs. |

Keep Wheels as far away from the locker-room as you can.
Give him some quarters with his life-alert and send him to the casino on game days. |

They probably did, but then again it's also the same pro scouting dept that signed off on Bryz, Kubina, Gill, Vinny, Umberger, etc, so.... |

I never could understand that line of thinking.
You play the best players available to give you the best chance of winning regardless of salary. The GM (or ex-GM in this instance) won't be happy campers because it really shines a bright light on the bad signing.
Any coach worth his salt would resist the pressure to keep sending him out there and do what Berube is doing.
The only downside is it doesn't give VLC an opportunity salvage his game and further decreases the chance of moving him to greener pastures. Maybe the embarrassment of sitting for the first time in his career jump starts something. |

Looks like Coyotes are going into sell mode.
How about picking up Chipchura and waiving VDV. |
