I dont want McDavid or Eichel. Id rather they trade that pick(if they get it) for a #1 defensemen.

Weber

I agree that it could, but not without a coaching change. The 06-07 to 07-08 turnaround was 39 points, and they didn't even get a first rounder who made the team as an 18 year old like they might in the 2015 draft.

I personally don't have an issue with Berube right now. If this team doesn't come out of it, that may very well happen, but I don't blame Berube for this losing streak. I blame the players.

Trading an incredible 18 year old talent like McDavid or Eichel for a 29/30 year old dman would be a incredibly stupid thing to do.

Not that I don't want McDavid or Eichel, but if they can get a top young #1 defenseman and something else for that pick if they had it, I'd do it.

No way. Don't we have " top prospects" in the farm.
If you get either of those guys you could trade 14 if you still want D help

I just want to point out that the Flyers defense was outstanding last night. They didn't allow one shot on goal the entire night. Things are looking up.
- jmatchett383

goal scoring is still an issue though, I don't think I saw a single forward going to the net

There is no guarantee that McDavid or Eichel are going to be great players in the NHL. If they are traded we could potentially land a legit cornerstone defensemen. Dont like Weber? Go for someone younger. I would rather deal with guarantees than hoping and banking on a prospect.

You would have to believe one of the two anchors will be bought out at end of the season. I don't see VL being here.
This team doesn't get blown out but you can tell they just don't have enough to finish off games. Weather it is scoring or defensive capability. A 3-1 third period or even 4-1 lead is not safe.
I have said it before... I want them to be good..but they are they not. I hate missing the playoffs ( especially if the Leafs make it) but this is the year to have that lottery pick.

- 3flyerkids

I'm starting to think that VL will be bought out as you say. Imagine if he signs somewhere else? He'd be receiving pay checks from 3 teams. Haha.

It would have to be a #1 elite defenseman and something else substantial. You're talking about a potential Sidney Crosby. I'd want a package along the lines of Weber plus F. Forsberg.

Damn salary cap...

The buy out on him is fairly severe. The more likely buy out candidate is Umberger.

Vinny is toast. Unless he signs for league minimum he is going to have to retire if bought out by 2 teams already.

Those top prospects are not a guarantee. First of all, I don't see the player the Flyers would need becoming available. If they could get a Pietrangelo, Doughty, or Subban, plus some other picks or prospects for the pick. I'd have to think real long and hard about it.

Agreed, it would have to be a deal so good, that you just can't turn it down.

Yes, Umberger has buyout written all over him. He should be wearing a 'B' on his jersey.

Do you think they buy both out? Maybe buy out umby, eat some of Bobby's salary in a trade? Prob with that is well prob have to do that and send a2nd for a team to take him.

I agree due to length and cap hit, but the penalty to buy out Umberger is much nicer than VLCs.

I highly doubt they can land the #1 or #2 spot. After the #1 draft the odds are about the same.

Absolutely. However, McDavid is probably the most hyped prospect since Tavares, maybe since Crosby. I'm the first to agree that potential is just that, potential. But, If (long shot if) the Flyers had a shot at McDavid, I think you take the chance on that potential unless you get a crazy deal you just can't turn down.

Yea and Tavares is under a PPG player. Id rather deal that prospect for a guaranteed stud D-man.
