The Signing of Matt Niskanen is still an add signing to me unless they'd been playing to drop Green all along. Brooks Orpik contract is another odd but huge pick up for them. They have John Carlson ready to bloom who is their best offensive weapon from Washongton's blue line this season. Matt Green has two more points than Niskanen this season in six less games played. Green is only one year older then Niskanen.

I throw Niskanen's name out there because it seemed like a waste of money on July 1st and still does for the caps.

Orpik is going to be a disaster. Way too much cash for a declining player. Niskanen got too many years, but he's decent. Green, there's rumors that he's going to be shopped or was being shopped.

There are a poop ton of penalties. That's for sure.

Edit: 110 minutes if I counted correctly.

I've gotta wonder if Cody Franson could be had this summer. He's 3.3 Million now, a UFA at the end of this season at age 27. He's 6'5" point machine from the blue line who averages 20 minutes a night.

Looks like this season was a bridge contract for him, so if he performs well this season, I expect he's going to cash in with a long term deal.

Florida and Jersey got points as well. Just keep locking down a top 5 pick.

The race to the bottom is almost as tight as the race to the top.

Speaking of which...EDM now has the least wins in the league with 6. How does Eakins still have a job?

It's baffling. That team definitely needs a restart, an electric shock...something. With the talented assets they have, they should be able to build a competitive team.

MacT's probablem is he wants to build it with all the players he's drafted. Trading a guy for fair value to address an actual need isn't a sign of failure...

The only guys to play for the Oilers that MacTavish drafted are Nurse, Yakimov and Draisaitl. RNH, Hall, Eberle, Yakupov were all drafted by somebody else

id love to pry out one of their forwards. the pens forward depth is laughable.

but i just cant see a deal working out realistically.

I gotta say, I'd be more then happy to get throw the season to get Connor Mcdavid. Once you get MacDavid though, major changes get forced. In fact, I'd say only and I mean only Giroux is safe. The one/two punch of Giroux and McDavid would be unbelievable. Should this happen, where does this leave a guy like Scott Laughton? If the Flyers are lucky enough to get a Connor McDavid, the fantasy of Giroux, Couturier and Laughton down the middle for years to come instantly blows up, although Laughton is still really cheap.

Pens are not an especially good fit, Greiss isn't better than Scrivens and Sutter isn't a first line center. Unless Ehrhoff decides to waive his NTC

Agreed. He's missing the whole idea of want and need.
