I wonder if the Sens offer him a front office job.

As a Sens ambassador (something like what Wendel Clark is doing for the Leafs) or some type of upper management job.

Has he said if he plans to stay in Canada? At any rate, it won't happen any time soon. It sounds like he has no interest in that sort of thing for at least a year or two.

I think his choice is either Canada or Sweden. He was in the US on a work visa (i'm assuming), so if he isn't working i'm assuming he has to leave. his kids are Canadian citizens, so i think he can live here.....or go back to Sweden.

if anyone is good at lawyering....please feel free to correct me.

Always annoyed me that they wear the "C" on the opposite side of every other NHL team.

(frank), I forgot about him. In 2006 though, with all those great Swedish players, Sundin was still the captain. That doesn't mean he was the best player, but it does say something about where he stood in Sweden's hockey hierarchy.

Nobody has praise for Tucker

- bcbanger

I actually like the guy's game - just not when he plays against 'my' team.

My brother in law won a prize to practice with the leafs, so he brought me along. We got to go on the ice with Tucker and Corson, while they ran us through some drills and had a scrimmage. It was a pile of fun, even though I was a Sens fan at the time.

it is ironic that Tucker almost became a Sen .... When Rick Dudley left for TB, TB originally offered Darcey Tucker in compensation since Dudley was still under contract. Ottawa refused and insisted on Rob Zamuner......

I'd rather have Tucker

I don't think it will happen as long as Melnyk owns the team.

Pehaps, and his rage was more against a ref than the Sens....just seeing that fall into McCreary? brought back memories of when the battle was at its best...
- JaredCrozier

No denying that was a memorable moment, and yes, those were good times for the Battle of Ontario.

Keep up the good work in here!

Wow... looking at that tucker hit... a lot different than I remember. It looked pretty bad [I'd put it more on Alfie's competitiveness that dirtiness or intent to injure]... but today it would be a penalty for boarding. Oh well

A hit like that would be suspendable in this era, but Tucker's reputation likely didn't do him any favors in helping the Ref to make the appropriate penalty call on the play.

That press conference was conducted in the most ostentatious, coquettish way. Melnyk was especially simpering. There's nothing quite like that Senators squishiness, on and off the ice. I enjoy seeing the Sens Army clapping for themselves. "Take that, Leafs Nation!"

Congrats to Alfie. Yes, from a Leafs fan.

On a side note.....I stopped taking this article seriously when our host blogger included Curtis Joseph in his "entourage of buffoonery" (can't deny Domi, Corson and Tucker.....although not like there were not comparable dance partners on the Sens at the time).

- bullethead7

I have to admit, born 1968 I grew up a huge Leafs fan living in Eastern Ontario. Loved Sittler, Salming, Palmateer, MacDonald, Gilmour, etc.

But in 2002, with the bafoonery of the Leafs, I started the playoffs series as a leaf fan and by game 7 I was cheering for the Sens. I was embarassed by Tucker, Domi, Corson, Green, Quinn, etc. (not Joseph or Roberts).

As today is Alfie day, I want to throw in my 2 cents on the 2002 hit. It was game 5 and I was still cheering for the Leafs. The Alfredsson/Tucker hit is one of the reasons I changed my alliance.

If you look at the angle of the replay from the corner of the rink. As the puck comes around the boards Tucker starts to turn to head up ice. Just before Alfredsson makes contact, Tuckers right skate is actually pointed at the linesman up ice towards the Ottawa end of the ice. Alfredsson makes contact with Tucker's right shoulder / shoulder blade (he makes contact with #6 on Tucker jersey, never touches the #1).
Was it a boarding or interference penalty? Probably! But in my opinion, Tucker was his own worse enemy on the play. If he wouldn’t of flung himself into the boards embellishing the play the referee probably would of called the interference (as he never did touch the puck).

I based my opinion on Tuckers right skate. If he would of just fell to his left (keeping that right skate pointed in the same direction) like 98% of the players would do, then he probably would of gotten the call. Instead he turned that right skate back towards the boards, and flung himself into the boards.
