I'm sure when the time comes he will be honored with a ceremony and his number retired. When he returned last week he got a nice ovation which was fitting given his time with the Bolts. Sure the ending and timing of the ending left alot to be desired but now that his "return" is behind us I think it gave all of us the chance to say thank you since the timing didn't afford us the opportunity last year.

I'm sure some will always hold a grudge of sorts. Personally I understand why he wanted to go to NY (going "home"), it was how it all came together that plainly sucked. Long-term he probably did the Bolts a favor as we would have had to make a difficult decision this offseason on whether to re-sign him while having stupid amounts of depth at forward. By him leaving it ushered in the new era of Stamkos' team without having the organization be the ones who caused the change.

Like Alfie, St Louis was the heart of that team for forever and delivered a Cup in an MVP season, he deserves all the accolades he gets. best little man of his time

I'm not for looking at the whatifs now... but I would of signed him to a pro-rated deal; let him play a his last GAME here. Even if it's $1M and he doesn't play more than a few games. 4th line wing would be be better than most on our team

Agreed. However the manner and timing that he left went directly against many of the reasons he was so respected and beloved in the community, thus the mixed and at times raw feelings his departure left for us. Given all of that, his tribute and the ovation he received (and in turn he acknowledged) was fitting of his contributions to this organization and community.

Ironically enough, at this time RIGHT NOW, they both have played 1,084 NHL games! (obviously St-Louis will surpass this!)

Fleury: 1,084 455 633 1,088

St-Louis: 1,084 380 621 1,001

Fleury made a bigger impact on the game I believe then St-Louis did...
Better then a PPG in both regular season & playoffs...
He was also smaller then St-Louis (yes, that is possible! LOL)
Played with a lot more aggressiveness then St-Louis...
Unfortunately, many demons ended his career a little too soon...

Another small guy that was also a PPG player that I liked when I was a kid was Mats Naslund! "Le p'tit Viking"! So quick and agile; always found an opening to either get the breakaway goal or setup a great pass on a rushing play...

I'm not sure where I heard this, if I remember correctly it came out in one of the Sens broadcasts last week when it was first announced that Alfie was retiring as a senator. Apparently, Alfie was approached by the Sens and they offered to let him suit up for one more game to play a shift (assuming due to his back that's all he'd be able to handle) to not only retire as a senator but play his last game here. And what I heard was Alfie respectfully declined saying something to the effect of he isn't healthy enough to play a regular shift so he didn't want to take ice time away from a player who earned it and he didn't want to leave the senators short a roster player for the game.

My initial thought was this is just made up to get that warm nostalgic feeling but if it is true is just goes to show how much his teammates or the team in general means to him.

I get the feeling it was Garrioch that said it so it's probably total BS.

For sure Tucker jumps into the boards trying to draw the penalty - he's Tucker, a rat. I agree with you 100% and so do the referees who saw it on the ice, Alfie goes Shoulder to Shoulder with him and Tucker projectiles himself into the boards.

The reason Quinn came out so strong against it is he didn't want his little rat to be called a diver for the rest of the series - so he makes a big stink about it and the Toronto Media goes wild for it.

The Bell hit on Alfie, straight forearm to the face - that's a (frank)ing dirty hit. Glad they changed the rules, that was ugly from a player wearing a cage who's a drunk

It's a bad angle, if you look at it from another angle you can see Tucker dive and then you can see how awesome Alfie is - anyways tit for tat, The Bell hit was a clear head shot that went unpenalized as was the Domi hit on Havlat, clear blindside hit to a vulnerable player who turned away from the play.

But this hit is what made Alfie a legend, this is sort of what started it all
