actually, we kind of expected you to stay out of a thread that has nothing to do with you or your team.
i'm sure when tucker retired, there weren't any sens fans in your thread talking poop - sensarmy_11
Hmmmm - the blog mentions the Leafs in an antagonistic way.
It's a sad day. Every Leaf fan's last chance to boo the guy on the ice at the CTC. |

Well don't you know, today is all about 11 and the Leafs sucking
Although in seriousness, somehow Alfie's career has become inextricably bound up with being hated by Leafs fans |

We would need a full week to properly cover the Leafs level of sucking. So let's just leave today about #11. |

Don't worry, the one inevitable genius wearing his Leafs jersey to the Sens-Isles game will do it for you.
Then, he will have trouble figuring out the busing system, winding up in Perth at 3 in the morning, and on a police missing persons report, unable to find his way home to his momma's basement.... |

Not sure if offer was made, but melnyk indicated that teh "door was open". alfi, when asked, said he was taking the year away from hockey (family year) and would decide on his future later.
so, it looks like "maybe" - sensarmy_11
I'm getting the feeling Alfie isn't into a return to Ottawa - he was very diplomatic in the interview but he big time tempered any expectations fans should have in his return to Ottawa.
We all wanted him to say he'll be back, but I just didn't get that feeling from him

no doubt he was good for OTT in the big picture
but certainly that was pathetic of him; even sens fans would agree that wasnt his best moment as a captain...pretty unsportsmanlike.
i dont care about the dirty hits; but shooting the puck at one of the better D man of our time after the period was over - and the sens were losing the cup; not his best moment. - big_dion
No ones perfect, we all have moments in our life we regret, this was one of his. |

Happens to me every time I go to a game at the CTC too. |

Yes, I don't really want to remember all those losses to the Leafs, I'd rather remember Alfie's goal that put the Senators into the Cup finals and other more positive moments from Alfie's career |

That time he hit Tucker...100% clean. Tucker is a diver, and if he got legitimately hurt it was his own fault. He hit him in the shoulder. If Tucker had any integrity he wouldn't have tried to sell it so hard.
And yeah, he shot the puck at Niedermayer on purpose. So what? Chris Pronger stomped on a guy's leg, a couple times. Dino Ciccarelli slashed Luke Richardson in the head. It's hockey, it's a dirty, filthy game.
Alfie is still the man. |

come on now.....i love alfie, i hate tucker, and i LOVED seeing that hit. that being said, it was absolutely not clean. take your pick...hit from behind or boarding...it should have been a penalty.
that being said, the only reason such a big deal was made was that he scored 5 seconds later. if he doesn't, and it's just a missed penalty with an injury, people have already forgotten about it. |

For sure Tucker jumps into the boards trying to draw the penalty - he's Tucker, a rat. I agree with you 100% and so do the referees who saw it on the ice, Alfie goes Shoulder to Shoulder with him and Tucker projectiles himself into the boards.
The reason Quinn came out so strong against it is he didn't want his little rat to be called a diver for the rest of the series - so he makes a big stink about it and the Toronto Media goes wild for it.
The Bell hit on Alfie, straight forearm to the face - that's a (frank)ing dirty hit. Glad they changed the rules, that was ugly from a player wearing a cage who's a drunk |

no boychuk, visnovsky or hamonic tonight, so if you're gonna beat the Isles, this is your best chance.
Halak is in net for us so we'll at least have that |

Doubt it, and I hope not (since I'm not going tonight so I can go that game). If that was the case his family would be here, they'd announce it, and he'd have a speech prepared. Not go from pre game sakting, to puck drop, to that.

I am honestly curious. Do you see a similar happy ending with Martin St. Louis in Tampa someday? - maaddmike
I'm sure when the time comes he will be honored with a ceremony and his number retired. When he returned last week he got a nice ovation which was fitting given his time with the Bolts. Sure the ending and timing of the ending left alot to be desired but now that his "return" is behind us I think it gave all of us the chance to say thank you since the timing didn't afford us the opportunity last year.
I'm sure some will always hold a grudge of sorts. Personally I understand why he wanted to go to NY (going "home"), it was how it all came together that plainly sucked. Long-term he probably did the Bolts a favor as we would have had to make a difficult decision this offseason on whether to re-sign him while having stupid amounts of depth at forward. By him leaving it ushered in the new era of Stamkos' team without having the organization be the ones who caused the change.
