Kudos to the Sens for honoring the longtime heart and soul. The end of the road may not have been ideal for the franchise icon, but today that can be put away and honor can be bestowed for the memories of a great career. |

relax
there were some positives said.
did you really expect the battle of ontario team to come over and praise the captain we've disliked for a decade??
would you come praise darcy tucker?? - big_dion
did you seriously just compare darcy tucker to alfie? Seriously?
Leafs fans and Sens fans taking shots at each other regarding stanley cups is like:
sens fans, enjoy the night, but not at our expense please

if you knew the rivalry of the battle of ontario and that Alfi and Darcy hated eachother with passion
you'd understand.

one was a classy individual, one was a cheap shot artist with anger management issues. If you're not sure which is which, I can explain.

let's hope Alfi back holds up during the pre-game skate! |

honestly - i could show you a number of cheap shots on eachother from both players
not sure you are up for this..
funny part is, i'd bet the sens fans would agree with my take over you even though they dislike the leafs whole heartedly.
alfi and tucker had more battles than games DiPietro played.

I am honestly curious. Do you see a similar happy ending with Martin St. Louis in Tampa someday? |

I wonder if the Sens offer him a front office job.
As a Sens ambassador (something like what Wendel Clark is doing for the Leafs) or some type of upper management job. |

I could see Player Development being a great role for him and a stepping stone to a potential GM job down the road. |

Not sure if offer was made, but melnyk indicated that teh "door was open". alfi, when asked, said he was taking the year away from hockey (family year) and would decide on his future later.
so, it looks like "maybe" |

Congrats to Alfie. Yes, from a Leafs fan.
On a side note.....I stopped taking this article seriously when our host blogger included Curtis Joseph in his "entourage of buffoonery" (can't deny Domi, Corson and Tucker.....although not like there were not comparable dance partners on the Sens at the time).
Jared, you dipped into "Garth's Corner" country, and allowed your home-town bias to influence you to the point where it ruined an otherwise decent article. Please, don't let it happen again. - bullethead7
Pehaps, and his rage was more against a ref than the Sens....just seeing that fall into McCreary? brought back memories of when the battle was at its best... |

I was thinking something like that with Mr. Murray health issue at moment.
He would be a good mentor for Alfi like (Yzerman and Holland in Detroit) if he would be interested in a job like that. |

I may still have a slight bias against Tucker, every time I hear his name I think of Peca having his knee blown out. - Isles_since_6
You wanna know something crazy, I remember that vividly... It's actually the first NHL playoff series I ever remember watching, not that I was very young (11), but I'd never been interested in hockey before the 2002 Winter Olympics.
I remember watching that series and thinking "wow, these guys in blue are real bumholes, I'm going to root for the other guys," and after the "other guys" failed to knock those blue goons off, I decided to root for whoever the blue guys played in the next round.
Turned out that team was Ottawa, and the rest, as they say, is history |
