Again i say If Buffalo Finishes outside top 5. Trade all 3 first round picks for NHL Ready talent.
- ImThatGuy

I'd be curious to know what we could get for that. May not be anyone available worth giving all three up for.

I looked at the upcoming LW UFA group, and unless you are a big Nick Foligno fan, there's nothing striking in that group.

The RFA group, outside of the top 4, is nothing special either. Of the top 4, unless you hope to somehow poach Hagelin (underrated player) from the Rangers, you aren't getting Kuznetsov or Huberdeau.

Trade targets would be:

Valentin Zykov
Tomas Tatar
Teuvo Teravainen
Patrick Sharp (too old?)
Ryan O'Reilly (gulp)
Evander Kane (oh boy)

Of both groups, Hagelin would be the best one to go after but he is not a gamebreaker.

- kingcong39

Teravainen could be had. I have read that he is very unhappy and there is basically no room for him so he is just stuck in the AHL. Hes seams to be more of a center/playmaker and not so much a scoring winger like we need and His size does scare me a bit

Here is my take:

Look at our upcoming picks - 3 first rounds ( 2/3 picks could be studs)

Look at our prospects - Hockey News #1

Keepers on team now - Ennis, Girgs, Risto, Zadorov, (Myers if not traded for the young scorer we desperately need)

Needed - #1 Goalie and PP QB on D

Trade bait - Stafford, Stewart, Hodgson, and the 2-3 defensemen we signed over summer.

Next month is huge for TM and team to see what direction we go?

- Irish 14

Along with your list of keepers, I'd like to add, from the current pool of prospects, Reinhart, Grigorenko, Compher, Hurley, Armia, Bailey, Baptiste, Fasching, Carrier, Lemiuex, McCabe, Pysyk, and Florentino.

I think Neuvirth is the current number 1 and one of Makarov, Ullmark, Johansson will turn out (they will keep drafting a G every year as all good teams do).

COMPLETELY agree on the PP QB D need Irish.

They really need a true top LW.

TBL has top-end forward talent, they can afford to be extremely patient with him. I see that as a luxury.

Drouin won't be a bust for another couple years, and I think he won't be a bust at all.

BTW, a similar situation played out in Stamkos' first year.

- nfph

If im not mistaken isnt this the same route that they did with Stamkos?

They got that top end forward talent by drafting where?

At the top of the draft.

- ImThatGuy

Eh, yes and no. Stamkos, Hedman (not offense but still), Drouin.

But their 2nd leading scorer was undrafted, Kucherov (3rd in scoring) was a 2nd rounder, and Callahan (4th) was of course traded for another undrafted player.

Between Hedman and Drouin, last to high picks was Connolly at 6, and he's languishing at this point.

Both of those are concerns, but he is the kind of player you target and see if you can get for a very reasonable price.

Foligno for Teravainen?

This is an example of a perfect rebuild though.

Draft high a few years, draft well in later rounds, and make the right trades/signings.

We have 1 of 3 done. We have drafted high once. If we could add McEichel, and then make a good trade or FA signing, in 2-3 years we could be where Tampa is now

Maybe. They're fun to watch, but I don't have them in my top-3 Cup teams at the moment.

I agree with the blueprint as you lay it out, completely. Though you need to also get f'ing lucky.

I would think the cap would indicate that getting Sharp would be easier.

Buffalo's D could very well end up being better than Tampa's which could ultimately make the difference down the road.

Definitely. If any one of these guys can get into the Hedman category I think we're in amazing shape back there.

We still have some real good prospects that could work out the same way too.

I have fully convinced myself that Murray must not use the Isles and Blues picks. Trade them get guys like Eriksson (May be able to get it done with the 2nd)

The picks are going to be in the 20-25 range. You could pull a major deal to get a 1st line LW with that.

I fully agree. Murray said at the deadline last year that there is a good winger that gets traded just about every year.

Kane, Ericksson, Sharp, Simmonds etc. Someone of that caliber is available every offseason. I think we get one soon

I would choose Kane or Simmonds out of that group (*edit).

Simmonds was hungry last night against the Ducks. His last second goal to tie the game is proof that he will do whatever he can to help his team win. I'm pretty sure he went after Getzlaf most of the night.

Philly is in Cap hell. Offer them one of the STL/NYI first and I think they have to take it.
