Calgary is showing there is nothing wrong with playing hard, being managed well, and continuing to improve while your young players continue to improve. That said, there is no way to tell if that will end up with their current group getting a cup in the next few years, but there are multiple ways to achieve the ultimate goal, which is all that Homie, 89, and some others are saying.

They are not now, however, they have been working in a bunch of young players since last season, and the team has shown a gradual improvement since the beginning of last year. Sounds like what this team is doing right now. If it continues, and the Sabres pick 7th or 8th, it's not the end of the world. It means GMTM will have to really earn his paycheck without the guarantee of one of the top 2.

He could also wait and maximize value on deadline day, still enough time to fall to the bottom *IF that's what he wants.

I suspect the media and potentially the NHL would be all over him if he moved Enroth in the middle of a win streak for draft picks and called up lieuwen.
