Why?
- MCGUIZZY

what's the point of kids busting their ass to overachieve to get to 10th in the east and have a gm that has no faith in them moving forward this season?

it's a bit early but say the sabres win 13 out of the next 20, move the deadline assets for players that will help this season instead of picks

several teams look like they are in tank mode, if the sabres want to tank, they better fire Nolan this week and bring back RR or find out what Ted Sator is doing.

not sure why pham's baggin' on Larsson lately:

"Watching Schaller play he probably looks like he’s more apt to be that good bottom six forward than Johan Larsson"

I think Larsson will turn out fine

- Michael Pachla

Hamilton doesn't have a clue. I think Larsson will become a pretty valuable two way guy when this team gets up to speed.

I would be all for going after smith or seabrook
- homiedclown

I would think there would be some trade movement next summer so some of these teams get much needed cap relief. The Sabres might have some nice options.

If this team continues to over achieve, and that is a big if then......

Murray almost has no choice but to try to make a few moves for the team to get better

- homiedclown

IMO if we win again tonight, that's making a big statement.

any much more and it puts them at or very near the cap with five open roster spaces
- Michael Pachla

They're going to have to make some moves. Probably decide which one of Smith or Krug they don't want to sign (??)

I don't know if either of them will be restricted or not but the way GM's throw money around now someone will overpay.

Not a bad play. You have two late first round picks you can give up. Say you offer a first per player. You can target:

PHI - Simmonds, B Schenn, Coutourier, Voracek
Chi - Shaw, Saad, Hjalmarsson
TBL - Connolly, Kucherov, Stralman
LA - Brown, CArter, Richards, Muzzin
Min - Grandlund, Pomminville
WSH - Johanson, Kuznetzov
Bos - Lucic, Eriksson, Krug, McQuaid

Pitt is meh, no one I would want.

- ImThatGuy

That would be the 4 out of that group that I would target, not that any of them will be available.

Eventually, the goaltending will come back down to earth. This team is still getting manhandled in the defensive zone and their puck possession is still nowhere near good enough to do anything worth writing home about. It's simply bend but don't break right now.

It was, but all the underlying numbers say this is an outlier. Are they going to be able to continue to perform miracles during the remainder of the season? I doubt it.

Bruins GM Chiarelli was at the Sabres game Tuesday night while his B's were out on the west coast. Kinda strange he wasn't traveling with the team to attend a TB/Swords game, a job his scouts could do. Maybe we'll see at some point a trade with the Bruins, either to move Stewart or a cap relief type of move looking into next season.

Not saying it wasn't but beating Tampa 2 game sin a row along with what else has happened, makes yet another statement.

Or maybe a trade between the bruins and the bolts..

You would think a GM would know what they are getting in a player like stewart and not have to attend a game to "scout" them. Perhaps he was there to look at a player like Schaller or someone less familiar..

ironic that with the brutal start of the season, teams they had to play, it is like the bills playing the broncos, packers and pats to end the season

oh wait

Every year teams have to decide if they will be buyers or sellers at the deadline. Sometimes , like in the sabres case, its just a smarter move for the organization and the future to sell or stand pat. It sucks but its the smarter move.

Anything is certainly possible. I would think he wanted to look at Stewart or was he there to chat with Murray?
