I singled out Grossmann, but the whole team is prone to making reckless plays like that. It's like they think we have 99 Hasek back there so who cares if we give up odd man rushes.
- Feanor

It's the whole team. Every goal against is either dumb or lazy play, a stupid penalty or piss poor coverage.

The Grossmann pinch. Schenn blowing his coverage. MacDonald flipping the puck up and out when he had Giroux, open, 4 feet to his left, uncovered.

Totally different situations and location.. I agree, I would have like to see Schenn fire a low shot on net, but maybe he saw something he didnt like, knew we were up 3-1 and tried to sustain possession as opposed to throwing a low quality shot on net.

There was absolutely ZERO reason for Grossmann to jump up there.

The Rangers third goal on Saturday came when Giroux fired a low quality shot that missed everything and they immediately got the puck and broke out 3 on 2.

You are right it does seem like it is more than one persons fault on every goal. That's one of the reason's I have accepted the " tank mode" there is so much work to be done by Hextall. Who knows how long it will take but a # 1 or 2 in the draft will be a great stepping stone.
I have admitted... " I am a tankaholic"

Exactly my point.. when you are that wide- Schenn was along the boards practically- firing a shot and having it get on net is not a given. I thought it looked like Schenn was going to reverse the puck to the point, but lost control. Horrible sequence.

It shouldn't be a low-quality shot -- he was a step ahead of the Ducks defender until he slowed down and opened up toward the boards.

That wasn't a "Jeff Carter Breakout," where he's just cruising in and fires a wrist shot around the boards. At some point, you have to be a real NHL player and get shots on net when you're in the position to shoot -- Simmonds was going straight to the net.

That's gotta be something internal that we're not seeing. Maybe something in practice, or body language, or something. Some puck battle he lost that we didn't see, something.

He was mid wind up when he decided to pull it back. It was stupid. There is no doubting that.

What he should have done was continued carrying the puck behind and around the net. He did turn the puck over. However, Grossmann HAS to realize his spot. You cant pinch there. Especially when you are slow and the guy is pretty much already in possession of the puck.

“I think it’s more of an individual thing right now with certain players,” Berube said, meaning he has selective benching targets.

I love how poetic it was for Maroon to score.

Aside from throwing an occasional big hit, is there ANY positives to Luke Schenn right now?
- jmatchett383

He's making a mistake that leads to a goal against every other game. And they are the same repeatable mistakes. Does that answer the question?

The shot that Schenn didn't take was just as much to blame as Grossmann, IMO -- the lack of hockey sense there was horrific, because he was the reason the forwards were all deep. They were busting ass to get to the net, expecting shot, and not only does he not shoot, he pivots toward the boards, gets stripped of the puck, and it's Katy-Bar-the-Door the other way.

That sequence was one of the most infuriating things I've seen Schenn do in a while -- you have to shoot there! You're leading the rush from the wing. You have to shoot!

- AllInForFlyers

Absolutely. What has Berube been preaching? Get pucks to the net. He also lost a puck that lead to another goal. He didn't get he puck deep with 12 seconds left in the SJ game. And on and on.

He had an opportunity to shoot the puck at one point when he had a step on the player covering him. Shoot the puck!

Has Berube polished up his shootout stand up routine? It's hilarious the Flyers are the worst shootout team in the NHL year after year.

Non competitive. What a poopbag.

Don't forget +/- is a screwed stat, that reflects more on the 5 man unit, not an individual player.

Yeah, he just scored a beauty..which a trained lab rat could have stuffed in the net

He needs to be doubleshifted and play at least 25 minutes a night. I want McDavid!

Fell asleep at 3-2. I recorded it. Is it worth watching from an entertainment point of view or should I just delete and move on?

This is Craig we're talking about... your first mistake is trying to make sense of his thinking through reasoned/logical deduction.

Block shots? Even that's questionable...

I'd rather have any warm body that can grip a hockey stick in than Luke
