Fell asleep after the first, will watch later today.

See that Umberger scored. Cue the Zombie Apocalypse.

Remember, head shots put em down for the count

The game really opened up after the first period.

Yeah, RJ got one. Will it wake up his game? Have to wait and see. I don't have high hopes.

Umberger played great last night I can't believe everyone is saying he sucks. He should definitely get more ice time, maybe move him to G's left wing.

I didn't really get to see any of it. How'd they play overall?

Yeah, he just scored a beauty..which a trained lab rat could have stuffed in the net

Grossmann's pinch that caused a 3 on 1 break for the Ducks second goal was incredibly bad. It's amazing how poorly he can play without getting benched by Berube, both this season and last.

Gotta think his time is coming. He provides a nice service, but the cracks are deepening.

Fell asleep at 3-2. I recorded it. Is it worth watching from an entertainment point of view or should I just delete and move on?

At least Edmonton didn't get a lose, they got a point as well.

At some point, how hard you play has to be secondary to how well you play.

The former can cover for the latter at times, and we all know that. But it shouldn't be the basis for extended grace.

as good as mason is, he's really pretty bad at shootouts. just like every other goalie we've had since 2005.
- hammarby31

He was good last season. This season he has faced two really good SO teams in Anaheim and NYI, and struggled.

Extremely bad read. All 3 forwards are deep, can't pinch in that situation. If he has support of the center lock, that's one thing. But not with all 3 forwards deep.

Luke Schenn on the Vatanen goal. I don't know how many times, I've seen him flat footed and reaching on a play leading to a goal. He makes a weak stick check from a stand still, as Vatanen easily stick handles around him, and then he just turns around and stand there. Awful.

I singled out Grossmann, but the whole team is prone to making reckless plays like that. It's like they think we have 99 Hasek back there so who cares if we give up odd man rushes.

The Fowler goal was another one. That was 4 on 4 I think so it muddles the situation. I only saw the first period, but I just got done watching the replays. I added comments to my above post on the Vatanen goal. Sit Luke Schenn and get Del Zotto back in.

Aside from throwing an occasional big hit, is there ANY positives to Luke Schenn right now?

The shot that Schenn didn't take was just as much to blame as Grossmann, IMO -- the lack of hockey sense there was horrific, because he was the reason the forwards were all deep. They were busting ass to get to the net, expecting shot, and not only does he not shoot, he pivots toward the boards, gets stripped of the puck, and it's Katy-Bar-the-Door the other way.

That sequence was one of the most infuriating things I've seen Schenn do in a while -- you have to shoot there! You're leading the rush from the wing. You have to shoot!

Absolutely. Only takes a backseat to the coverage on the Vatanen goal for Bonehead Play of the Game.

He should have shot it, but he turned the puck over in the left corner of the offensive zone. That shouldn't have lead to a 3 on 1 rush.

He increases our odds of landing McDavid or Eichel

I missed all of it after the 1st. looks like they played a decent game to get it to 3-1. and it looks like they really tried to score in OT (shots 8-4) to avoid the SHO.

Really, they should have 2 pts out of 4 so far and have played better defensively the last 2 games. Baby steps. Hate to be overly positive, but if they can somehow get a win in LA, then it's not too bad of a trip.

It's shouldn't have, but my rage was almost beyond belief because what did Ryan Getzlaf do on that 3-on-1, from the wing?

He fired a laser -- Getzlaf is one of the most prolific assist-men in the game, and even he fired the puck on net!

Schenn doesn't even have to score there -- but you have to shoot that.

Totally different situations and location.. I agree, I would have like to see Schenn fire a low shot on net, but maybe he saw something he didnt like, knew we were up 3-1 and tried to sustain possession as opposed to throwing a low quality shot on net.

There was absolutely ZERO reason for Grossmann to jump up there.

Block shots? Even that's questionable...

I'd rather have Del Zotto in than Luke
