Just by benching Vinny and burying RJ on the 4th, they will get an immediate lift.

If Read/Couts and Simmonds get going they could beat some other bad teams and finish in the 10-12 spot.

Does Read deserve a vote in confidence right now? We've already pointed out that Berube gives undeserved rope to some players. Matt Read might be one of those players.

If I knew this was true, sitting through the next 55+ games wouldn't be so bad.

One of my favorites ever was this whole thing about trading Bryzgalov, Simmonds, Brayden and Luke Schenn to Edmonton for choice of Khabibulin or Dubnyk, Hemsky, Eric Belanger and Nick Schultz. Also, Briere for Shattenkirk and a 2nd.

But I don't see Jake and G maintaining the same pace either. And a 2-3 injury to either one, or Mason, and they'd be in real trouble.

I think most of us our pretty fatalistic though. Most of us assume that something will happen - bad ping pong bounce (2007) or meaningless win stream (2010) or some other catastrophe will screw us out of a generational player.

not following what you are saying but what I mean is those 3 guys have to at some point get themselves on track. they are good players. I just can't see them being this bad all year. I just can't see the flyers ending up top 5 but believe me, I wouldn't cry over a top 5 pick and would giggle like a school girl for a top 2
