Another one:

We are at #1 and FLA is at #8. They offer the 8th pick, Ekblad, Barkov and their 1st in 2016?

- BiggE

I'll save you some time, lol.

Only trade I would personally accept is Stamkos and a 1st from TB. I wouldn't even trade #1-2 this year for Crosby straight up.

No.

How about this:

We're at 1 and the Penguins are at 24. They offer Crosby.

Yeah, I also remember Saleski pummeling the crap out of him too!

I used to go with my dad back then, I was a little tyke, those were fun times. I miss the old Spectrum and watching players without helmets. It may be better hockey in terms of skill today, but it was just so much more fun back then.

If I recall correctly, the Hound might have been the first one. Ah, it's all becoming a blur.

I remember the whole team going after him and the Seals team looking horrified

Obviously, I never want to be in the position to be sellers at the deadline but every year I see how much sellers get for mediocre players and wish we could pull off some trades like that. Sadly, we are looking to be in that position this year..let's hope Hextall can work some magic.
- five4fighting10

Yeah for once it would be nice to get some building blocks back. I mean that one year Paul Gaudstad got buffalo a 1st rounder. He was a 4th line center. Coburn, Read, Grossmann/Schenn, Rinaldo, Del Zotto, MacDonald all might be able to bring in some returns to help next year and so on

Barry Cummins, I was there! You're old like me.
- 2731color

I was a little kid but I remember seeing the bloodied pic of Cummins on the front page of the sports page after the flyers all jumped him and beat the living snot out of him

With that in mind. If we were at #1 and Buffalo at #2 and they offered their pick, another one of their firsts and either Zadorov or Ristolainen to move up that one spot, would you do that?

I would.

Truly.

I just kind of hope they keep Grossmann. I believe in him over Luke, and frankly this blueline really lacks any sort of grit.

I don't really have a problem with the defensive d-men on the club, ideally they are on a 3rd pairing. The issue I do have is the puck movers, are pretty bad at doing so, and even worse at skating the puck out themselves more than 3 feet.

I know the forwards get a lot of blame for not coming back to help the D on break-outs, but its a bigger issue. The forwards should also be able to rely on their D to make an accurate pass more than 5 feet or skate the puck out once in a while.

- flyer_nutter

I lean towards keeping Luke over Grossmann mainly because of age and the fact he's a righty, neither of which I admit are the best of reasons.

I feel like the bolded part has been an issue for years, no matter what d-men the team has. It just doesn't make sense to me. You're in the NHL, you should be able to make a pass from tape to tape and hit a man in stride.

Hell yes. I always felt Eichel was a better fit here anyway -- guy can flat out score goals.

I still have the clippings somewhere. Back then the home games started at 8:00; we used to get home late.

You worry too much. This is a make good for Kane. If they finish out of the playoffs (and they will) the lottery is rigged in our favour.
- mayorofangrytown

If I knew this was true, sitting through the next 55+ games wouldn't be so bad.

Ofc, that would hurt more. Hanifin (likely #3) would probably be the the 1st-overall pick in many other drafts. So yeah, dropping out of the top-3 would definitely not be cool.
- Tomahawk

I would be willing to wager they don't pick in the top 3. I'm guaranteeing it.

I don't recall that....back then I only saw a few games here and there. thank god that changed. I do remember 7:30 games. even that was late. I got season tickets for the first time for the 82-83 season and had them for a long time. then a 10 game plan. Now I can find them on stub hub very reasonable. Of course that doesn't help for the playoffs
