My buddy ran into bill clement about an hour ago. A gas station in penndel. Bill said he's "going down to the wells Fargo to call the debacle beat down tonight".

I wouldn't call it the worst, I'd call it the hardest. Highest off zone % might be the worst, or at least the easiest.

His ratio of defensive zone starts to offensive zone starts is the toughest. If that makes sense.

Well no one would have reason to drop that info, now would they?

Just an idea. Hopefully they just find someone to take him or he hangs em up sooner rather than later. Barring a miracle I don't see how he willingly plays another year here.

There's very severe penalties for such circumventions of the cap, including fines of up to $5mm, forfeiture of draft picks as well as potential fines to the player and his agent.

The NHL also has to approve any situation where a contract is mutually terminated. Even if Vinny decides to retire after next season, he'd be a fool to agree to a termination. He'd lose $2mm in signing bonuses, and another $4.5mm in salary by terminating the deal after this season.

No team is going to pay him $6.5mm next season as a UFA

Buddy asked clement if berube is safe, he said he thinks so, flyers are slow and small, he likes mason but defense is bad and coburn is best option

I believe the NHLPA has to agree also. I think it's extremely far fetched, but Lecavalier has made 98M dollars to this point. Maybe happiness and a chance to play and get more ice time in a better situation, could be a factor.

It's just in his best interest to stick with the deal, and if he's retiring anyhow maybe a team can get the Flyers to eat whatever amount of cash for a year.

If he is traded and retires and money eaten comes off the books

I'm still not sold on him retiring. I think he'll want to play. Just not for Berube or the Flyers.

Ya I know what you're saying, the way you worded it just made it sound as if Coots was doing something wrong or bad. He's just being horribly utilized.

Well, if you want to get a guy out of a slump, give him more defensive zone starts. Hockey 101

San Jose's not having the best year...maybe the Flyers get out there, play well, earn two points and begin to turn this thing around
