Mitchell is a quality bottom 6 player. I'd sign him on a 3 year deal.

I wanna see deslauriers back...i got a feeling he'll end up being a very solid 3rd liner

Guess Buffalo will face Tampa's backup tomorrow since Bishop is in tonight.

Mikhail Grigorenko's waiver exemption of 3 year(s) and 147 games remains in place through to the end of the 2014-15 season. However, that exemption will end immediately when he appears in 147 career NHL regular season and playoff game(s). He has played in 43, meaning he is 104 away from his exemption ending.
- grand-magus

This is incorrect.

He's waiver eligible next year.

It's pro games for 18 year olds or something to that effect.

Murray said that in a season ticket holder meet n greet I guess.

- dadeadhead

It's an either/or thing. It has to do with how many NHL games they play in and when they signed their ELC.

So since he's not going to hit his NHL game threshold this year but his ELC expires, he won't be eligible to go to the AHL unless he clears waivers.

- HonkFortheGoose

Im under the impression its what Goosie is saying. Its X years OR X number of NHL games. It doesnt always go by expiration of ELC as Tim Schaller ELC ends this season, but he would be waiver exempt through the 15-16 season. Armia had 4 years after signing or X number of games, so he gets through the 15-16 season as well.

Also, add Pysyk, Ruhwedal to the Grigorenko and Larsson list.

I wanna see deslauriers back...i got a feeling he'll end up being a very solid 3rd liner

You will see him back since hes signed through next year. He signed a 2 year deal this summer.

Go to page 91 of the PDF (the start of the Waivers section)

Signing Age-Exemption
18-5 years or 160 NHL games
19-4 years or 160 NHL games
20-3 years or 160 NHL games
21-3 years or 80 NHL games
etc etc etc

Exemption ends immediately upon NHL games reached if prior to end of year limit.

For purposes of regular waivers, the 5 year exemption for 18 year old, and 4 year exemption for 19 year old will be reduced to 3 years commencing the first year the 18 or 19 year old play in 11 NHL games or more. The next 2 seasons, regardless of whether they play in the NHL in either season, shall count as the 2nd and 3rd year of the exemption.

Did he make a bad a play or did he quite literally give them the two points, Bryan McCabe own goal style?

So, based on what you have here, Grigorenko will need to clear waivers to go to the AHL next year since this is his 3rd year and he played in more than 11 NHL games his first year.

Correct. Which is what I put in my initial post on page 2 where I said Grigorenko, Larsson (and have since discovered that Pysyk and Ruhwedal are also no longer waiver exempt next year) are pretty much forcing themselves on Buffalo next year. I think Rudy would slide by, perhaps Larsson can slip by like Pommer did, but theres no chance in hell Grigorenko or Pysyk go unclaimed.

None of those names surprise me though. I was under the impression they all would need to clear next year. It's certainly going to make things more interesting for Murray in the offseason. We may see some of the prospects packaged together for an upgrade of some sort. At some point he's going to have to do that anyway. There's only so much room and we've drafted too many guys over the last few years for it to actually be realistic for them all to stick.

Which is why I said this

The way I see it, Murray has some work to do for next season. I think Hodgson's time as a Sabre will be done, and Murray deals him for another NHL player.

I could see Murray not really having any attachment to Larsson, and at this point, I'm not entirely sure I see his offense translating at the NHL level. I like him as a player though. It might be more beneficial to go after a veteran rather than bringing him up.

Ennis-Girgensons-Moulson
Foligno-Hodgson-Gionta
X-X-X
X-McCormick-Deslauriers
X-X

Myers-Gorges
Risto-Zads
Weber-X

Thats the core of the roster Murray has to work with next year prior to resigning any UFA's or RFA's.

I know he's(was) the centre of many jokes here but it wouldn't surprise me if he was in sabres uniform next year.

I'm sure he will come with a 6 mill price tag, unless the Leafs want him and then it's 8mill.
