Eric, just read the blog and it's amazing. you are obviously hinting at blowing it up, what do you think the return for Price would be? or a Price Subban package?
- hunglikeapuck

I don't think they should blow anything up
I think they can use what they have much better than they're currently using it.

former Canadiens captain Brian Gionta, who was instrumental role in helping the Sabres nauseate Canadiens' fans, drawing the powerplay that sealed Montreal's fate Friday

You don't mean this, do you?

Once again, Habs have made a below average goalie look like Pat Roy. What else is new?
Can MB find a scorer or 2 please?

I would sure like to see Eller and Sekac top line minutes. But you know MT wont make that happen. wonder what Desharnais is doing to MT to not get the penalty others get when they dont produce...
- slimshaguy

I think the following statement, if true, goes to show that Desharnais is a fringe NHL player:

My theory is that Therrien continues to give Desharnais top offensive opportunity by both having good PP exposure and playing with the best scorer on the top line because Desharnais is incredibly one-dimensional. In order to get the best out of Desharnais he has to be given offensive minutes.

You won't soon see him killing penalties or being effective at all with non-finishers on the receiving end of his passing. In my opinion, Plekanecs should be playing on the top line as he is the best center on the team. He should have the best opportunity for offense.

But for Therrien this would have an adverse affect on team play. I think if you rotated Desharnais' role with Plekanecs that Plekanecs would indeed put up better offensive numbers than Desharnais. But Desharnais can't play Plekanecs role. That would hurt the team.

So because Desharnais can't play any responsible minutes, in the light of what is best for the team, Therrien deploys his assets in a way to help the team out.

And that is why a 0.5 point per game player who can't slide into a good role on the third line should be the odd man out moving ahead. Not to mention having a small one-dimensional 0.5 point per game player as your top line center is a bit of a problem. But this is just my perspective on things.

Obviously the defense needs some more tinkering.

Desharnais should spend some time on the 3rd line.

Or the pressbox.

I can't stand Emelin anymore.

i don't have a problem with Emelin. the problem is that on this defence, Emelin is the third best player.

I still don't understand why Tinordi and Beaulieu are in Hamilton and not playing on a nightly basis.

I'm glad we got rid of Bourque and Moen.... and hell Gonchar is bringing something interesting in the lineup.... Allen is pretty huge and all.....

But it doesn't change the fact we have a mediocre defense at best...

He was making mistakes nightly. So I understand the idea of sending him down to play more minutes since he has been replaced by veteran defensemen.

But the fact that said veteran defensemen are also making mistakes but still slot in nightly is confusing. Veterans can make mistakes but if a young guy does he is sent down and replaced?

Not sure what message that is sending, but it seems like an intensely high pressure situation for these kids when they do get to play once and awhile.

Investing in Allen and Weaver was smarter!

This.

I thought Tinordi had an especially short leash after an interesting stretch of good games.

it was a bad penalty. I didn't mean to suggest it was unmerited, if that's what you're asking.

I think he means that Gionta had nothing to do with "drawing" the penalty...

Emelin did it all by himself.
